Alvin Law: podcast appearances and interviews

Alvin Law, born in 1960 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, is a motivational speaker, musician, and former radio broadcaster. Born without arms as a result of his mother's use of thalidomide during pregnancy, Law was adopted and raised by foster parents Hilda and Jack Law. Despite the challenges associated with his condition, he learned to perform daily activities using his feet, including eating, dressing, grooming, driving, sewing, playing sports, and performing on drums, piano, and trombone. Law attended regular elementary and high schools, defying the common practice of placing disabled children in specialized institutions or programs. After completing college, he pursued a career in radio broadcasting and expressed interest in television, although concerns about public perception initially hindered this transition. He began motivational speaking in 1981 and dedicated himself full-time to this profession in 1988 with the founding of AJL Communications Ltd. Law has been featured in two award-winning documentaries and authored a book titled Alvin's Laws of Life: 5 Steps To Successfully Overcome Anything. His acting includes a notable role as a preacher in an episode of The X-Files. In 1986, he ran as a provincial candidate for the Saskatchewan Progressive Conservative Party in Regina North West. Law has served on the national board of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers and has been a regular participant in the TeleMiracle telethon. In 2018, he was inducted into the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame.
