Alan Smith: podcast appearances and interviews

Alan Martin Smith, born on 21 November 1962, is an English football commentator and former player who played as a striker. His playing career included significant tenures at Leicester City and Arsenal, where he became Arsenal's top scorer for four consecutive seasons. Smith scored the first goal in Arsenal's 2-0 victory at Anfield on 26 May 1989, a match that secured the league championship for Arsenal that season. He also contributed to Arsenal's success with a league title in 1991 and was part of the squad that completed a League Cup and FA Cup Double in 1993. In 1994, he scored the decisive goal in Arsenal's victory in the European Cup Winners' Cup final against Parma. Smith earned 13 caps for the England national team and represented England at UEFA Euro 1992. After retiring from playing, he became a football commentator, working as a co-commentator for Sky Sports. Aside from his broadcasting career, he provided his voice to the football video game series FIFA alongside Martin Tyler from 2011 until 2019. Smith has also contributed written work to publications including The Daily Telegraph and the Evening Standard. In 2018, he published his autobiography titled Heads Up: My Life Story, offering insights into his football career and personal experiences.
