Alan Cedric Page, born on August 7, 1945, is a former American football player and retired Associate Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Notre Dame in 1967 and a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1978. Page played college football at Notre Dame and gained national recognition as a defensive tackle in the National Football League during 15 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears. Notably, he was the first defensive player in NFL history to win the Most Valuable Player Award, a distinction only Lawrence Taylor has matched since. His football career earned him induction into both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, recognizing him as one of the greatest defensive linemen of all time. After retiring from professional football, Page pursued a legal career and served as an associate justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court from 1993 until reaching the court's mandatory retirement age of 70 in 2015.
