Alan Roger Davies, born on 6 March 1966, is an English actor, presenter, stand-up comedian, and writer. He is best known for his role as Jonathan Creek in the BBC mystery drama series of the same name, a character he portrayed from 1997 to 2016. Additionally, Davies has been a significant presence on the BBC panel show QI, serving as its only permanent panellist since the show's debut in 2003, a role he has maintained even after the original host Stephen Fry. Davies began his career in comedy as a stand-up performer and has undertaken several touring stage shows, including performances most recently in 2025. Besides his work in television and comedy, he has authored three memoirs, reflecting on his personal and professional experiences.
