My Green Lab is a non-profit organization based in San Diego, California, founded in 2013. Its mission is to promote sustainability in scientific research by enhancing environmental and social responsibility. The organization operates “for scientists, by scientists,” focusing on developing standards and driving behavioral change within the scientific community. My Green Lab offers two main programs: Green Lab Certification and the ACT Label. The Green Lab Certification helps scientists and sustainability professionals minimize the environmental impact of laboratory operations by improving energy efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring responsible chemical use. The ACT Label provides transparency on sustainability metrics for laboratory products, covering aspects like energy consumption and water use. The organization collaborates with the EPA and ENERGY STAR to establish standards for laboratory equipment and supplies. With a global reach, My Green Lab serves over 3,200 labs in 49 countries, including 40 of the 50 largest biotech and pharmaceutical companies, as well as 140 leading academic institutions.
