What does Green Book do?

Theatre Green Book (TGB) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainability in the performing arts. Launched in 2021, it began as a collaborative effort among UK theatre-makers and has since expanded to include participants from around the world. TGB is chaired by Abigail Pogson and is currently seeking charitable status. TGB offers free resources, best-practice guidance, and shared standards to assist theatres in their sustainability efforts. Its three core volumes cover sustainable productions, sustainable buildings, and sustainable operations, providing practical measures and solutions for various aspects of theatre work. The organization also hosts online and live events, attracting over 2,000 participants since the launch of its second volume in June 2024. With a global reach, TGB has been translated into 14 languages and has established networks across Europe, Asia, Australia, and Latin America. More than 350 UK organizations and 650 theatre workers have publicly committed to its sustainability standards, reflecting its significant impact on the theatre community.
