What does CarePortal do?

CarePortal is a care-sharing technology platform launched in March 2015 by The Global Orphan Project. Based in Kansas City, Missouri, it connects child-serving professionals with local churches, community members, and organizations to address the immediate needs of children and families in crisis, particularly within the child welfare system. Operating in 20 U.S. states and parts of Canada, CarePortal engages over 2,000 churches and has supported more than 70,000 children through a volunteer network. The platform follows a "Circles of Care" philosophy, focusing on family-style care supported by local communities to tackle the foster care crisis. CarePortal facilitates a three-step process: identifying needs, submitting requests, and sharing those needs with nearby churches and community responders. This approach enables professionals to mobilize resources, volunteers, and funds to provide essential support, such as furniture for reunifying families or assistance for foster placements.
