Active Minds, Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to promoting mental health awareness among youth and young adults. Founded in 2003 by Alison Malmon, the organization mobilizes students across college, high school, and K-12 campuses to reduce stigma and encourage help-seeking through peer-to-peer advocacy. With over 600 chapters nationwide, Active Minds impacts more than 1.9 million students each year. The organization offers various programs and services aimed at fostering open conversations about mental health. These include campus chapters that provide support and advocacy, the Active Minds Speakers Bureau for mental health education, and the award-winning Send Silence Packing® exhibit for suicide prevention. Active Minds also runs the Transform Your Campus program, which trains students in policy advocacy, and has expanded its K-12 programming to reach over 2,564 schools. Additionally, the Healthy Campus Award recognizes colleges that prioritize student well-being, while Active Minds @Work focuses on building mental health culture in workplaces.
