Episode #14
The Four Horsemen and the Hope of Jesus | Revelation 6 | Part 14
Welcome to Woody! In Revelation 6, John is shown a powerful and unsettling vision: the Lamb, Jesus, opens the seals of a heavenly scroll, revealing the Four Horsemen, suffering, war, famine, death and persecution. But this chapter is not simply a frightening picture of the end of the world. Revelation means “to reveal”, and throughout this passage we are reminded that even in the darkest moments, God remains in control. The Four Horsemen do not have the final word. Jesus does. Martin explores what these images might mean for us today, from the reality of conflict and inequality to the suffering of Christians around the world. He also asks how we can respond: by trusting God, caring for those who are vulnerable, standing firm in our faith and becoming people who bring hope and light into dark places. Revelation 6, Matthew 24, Psalm 23, Proverbs 9:10 and 1 Peter 3:18–19 are explored as we consider what it means to trust Jesus when life feels uncertain.
