Episode #285
Amberly Mendoza
On the morning of March 9, 1996, Amberly Mendoza was found murdered in her bedroom in Yuma, Arizona. She was just 10 years old. Her family’s home had been filled with people following a birthday celebration, yet someone was able to reach Amberly, sexually assault her, take her life, and leave without being identified. Thirty years later, investigators have DNA believed to belong to her killer. So why has no one been held accountable? The FBI is now offering a reward of up to $30,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information can contact the Yuma Police Department at 928-783-4421 or remain anonymous by calling 78-CRIME at 928-782-7463. Amberly’s name also lives on through Amberly’s Place, a family advocacy center created in her memory. The organization provides crisis intervention, medical care, legal advocacy, and support to victims of abuse and violence throughout Yuma County.
