Evangelism: We Are Unable to Stop Speaking
As you go throughout the week reflect on these takeaways: - Evangelism provokes opposition, and we should expect it. Whether internal struggles like anxiety and self-doubt or external pressures from the world around us, the enemy does not sit still when the Gospel is being proclaimed. Expect resistance, but trust that God is working in and through it regardless of what the circumstances look like. - Evangelism is empowered by the Holy Spirit and rooted in the exclusive truth of the Gospel. Peter and John were uneducated and untrained, yet they spoke with a boldness that silenced the religious elite. That same Spirit is available to every believer today. We do not share the Gospel in our own strength or wisdom, but from a heart filled and sustained by the Word of Christ, gratitude, and dependence on God. - Evangelism flows out of relationship, both our relationship with Jesus and our relationships with the people around us. The religious leaders took note that Peter and John had been with Jesus. That recognition was the most powerful credential they carried. When we walk closely with Christ, it becomes impossible to stay silent about what we have seen and heard. Ask yourself this week: is there a person God has placed in your life who needs to hear about Jesus?
