Hope in Ruins | Pastor Brandon Beals | Venture Church

  Sep 28, 202637 min

What do you do when your life feels like it’s in ruins and God seems silent? This week, Pastor Brandon continues our Ruins to Revival series as we begin Ezra chapter 1. After 70 years of exile, God fulfills His promise to bring His people back to Jerusalem — but He does it in an unexpected way by stirring the heart of King Cyrus. Ezra reminds us that God is dependable, God is trustworthy, and God is always working even when we can’t see what He is doing. No matter how impossible the situation may feel, God can move hearts, remove obstacles, and use unexpected people to accomplish His purposes. If your marriage, finances, health, family, career, or future feels like it’s sitting in the rubble, this message is a reminder that God sees your ruins and He has not forgotten your story. Sep 21, 202638 min

What happens when everything feels ruined? Is God still working when His promises seem delayed? In Part 2 of Ruins to Revival, Di walks through the incredible events of Daniel 5 and the fall of Babylon. From Belshazzar’s pride and the writing on the wall to the rise of King Cyrus, we see how God was working behind the scenes to fulfill a promise made generations earlier.Even when God’s people were sitting in exile wondering when rescue would come, God had not forgotten them. He was preparing the way for their return, restoration, and rebuilding.God is not slow in keeping His promises. He is patient, calling us to repentance. And no matter how broken or ruined things may seem, nothing can separate us from His love. When we return to Him, He can restore what has been lost, help us rebuild, and once again pour out His Spirit. That is revival.TIMESTAMPS00:00 — Introduction to Ruins to Revival Part 2 01:27 — Recapping Israel’s Story & God’s Promise 04:19 — How Did We Get Here? 05:16 — Isaiah’s Prophecy About Cyrus 08:21 — Daniel 5 & the Fall of Babylon 10:28 — Belshazzar’s Dangerous Confidence 14:18 — Dishonoring What Belonged to God 15:47 — The Writing on the Wall 18:09 — Daniel & Nebuchadnezzar’s Story 20:20 — Daniel Is Called Before the King 24:19 — Pride, Repentance & Nebuchadnezzar 26:09 — “The Writing Is on the Wall” 27:17 — Babylon Falls 28:55 — Cyrus Enters Babylon 31:08 — What Does This Mean for Us? 32:24 — The Setting for Ezra Chapter 1 33:30 — Repentance, Restoration & Revival 34:13 — Response & Prayer 36:31 — Closing

How did we end up here? | Pastor Brandon Beals | Venture Church

  Sep 14, 202645 min

What do you do when you look at your life and ask, “How did I end up here?” This week, Pastor Brandon kicks off our brand new series, Ruins to Revival, a journey through the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. Before stepping into the story itself, he lays the foundation by tracing the history of Israel and showing how a series of choices, victories, failures, and consequences eventually brought God’s people to a place of destruction and exile. At the center of the message is the reminder from 2 Peter 3:9 that God is not slow in keeping His promises. Even when we experience the consequences of our own decisions, God has not abandoned us. We reap what we sow, but nothing can separate us from the love of God. Pastor Brandon walks through God’s promise to Abraham, Israel’s journey into the Promised Land, the period of the judges, the rise of Saul, David and Solomon, the divided kingdom, the Assyrian conquest, and finally the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem. By the time Ezra begins, the temple is gone, the walls are destroyed, the people have been scattered, and it looks like God’s promise could never come true. But God had not forgotten them. Even in the ruins, His promise remained. Even in exile, His love remained. And even when we find ourselves living in the consequences of our own choices, God still loves us, still has a plan for us, and His promises can still be trusted. Ownership | Pastor Morgan Butcher | Venture Church

  Sep 7, 202640 min

What does it mean to move from simply attending church to taking ownership of the mission Jesus has given us? In the final week of our All In series, Pastor Morgan talks about what it means to live with an ownership mentality. Ownership is more than having your name on a membership list. It means saying, “These are my people. This is our mission. You can count on me.” Looking at the Great Commission, Acts 2, and Paul’s picture of the Church as the Body of Christ, Pastor Morgan reminds us that following Jesus is deeply personal, but it was never intended to be lived privately. We were created to carry the mission of Jesus together, each person bringing their gifts, serving their community, and taking responsibility for the people God has placed around them. Ownership also expands our responsibility beyond ourselves. It means caring about our church, our neighbors, the next generation, our community, and people around the world. Through the mission of Jesus, we are called to live both here and there, recognizing that together we can take the Gospel farther than any one of us could alone. The question is not simply, “Do I go to Venture?” The deeper question is, “Am I willing to help carry what God has entrusted to us?” Timestamps 0:00 Welcome 0:44 Wrapping Up the All In Series 1:10 The Apple Watch Illustration 2:26 Closing the Rings 3:13 What Do the Rhythms of Your Life Reveal? 3:48 “Am I All In?” 4:07 The Final Ring: Ownership 4:28 Ownership vs. Membership 4:50 “This Matters to Me” 5:35 The Costco Sauerkraut Illustration 6:02 What an Ownership Mentality Looks Like 6:27 Ownership Doesn’t Make You a Better Christian 6:52 We Were Never Meant to Carry the Mission Alone 7:17 Ownership Shows Who You’re Committed To 7:43 The Great Commission 8:08 The Mission Begins With the Authority of Jesus 9:28 This Mission Belongs to King Jesus 9:54 Go and Make Disciples 10:18 Venture Exists to Participate in Jesus’ Mission 11:05 The Danger of a Consumer Mentality 11:36 Consumerism in the Church 12:26 What Am I Carrying? 12:49 The Mission Belongs to All of Us 13:14 Jesus Intended Us to Carry the Mission Together 13:42 The Early Church Devoted Themselves 14:11 Learning, Praying, Eating and Serving Together 15:01 Commitment to Each Other and the Mission 15:59 Faith Is Personal, But Not Private 16:43 Jesus Forms Individuals Into a People 17:04 The Church Is a Body 17:40 You Are the Body of Christ 18:10 The Church Is Not an Audience 19:06 Everyone Has a Role to Play 19:25 The Body of Christ Needs You 19:50 “That’s My Church” 21:00 Attendance vs. Ownership 21:23 “These Are My People” 21:54 Ownership Can’t Mean Caring Only About Our Church 22:22 The Mission Is Here and There 23:05 To the Ends of the Earth 23:25 Morgan’s Prayer for His Family 24:24 An Unexpected Answer to Prayer 25:07 Fighting for Each Other’s Families 25:34 Responsibility for Our Community 26:01 The Light Bearers Kids Wing 26:33 The Next Generation Matters to Us 26:55 Kids Encountering Jesus 27:17 Their Story Matters Anyway 27:53 Ownership Expands Our Circle of Responsibility 28:16 Consumerism Shrinks the Circle 28:36 Here and There 28:59 Why Kingdom Builders Matters 29:15 Local Impact, Global Missions and Future Leaders 29:38 Together We Can Take the Gospel Farther 30:10 Why Does Ownership Matter? 30:30 Partnership in the Gospel 30:55 Prayer, Giving, Serving and Sacrifice 31:24 Ownership Is Partnership 31:49 Partnering With People, Not a Brand 32:13 “I’ve Decided” 32:36 Moving From Attendance to Responsibility 33:06 Taking the Next Step Toward Ownership 33:44 “These Are My People” 34:01 Are We Really All In? 34:21 Carrying the Mission Together 34:51 “You Can Count on Me” 35:22 “You Are My People” 35:34 Making Jesus Famous Here and There 36:00 Closing Prayer 37:22 What’s Next 37:41 Giving and Kingdom Builders 38:22 Back to Church Sunday 38:43 Introducing Ruins to Revival 39:09 Grandparents Day 39:26 Next Sunday Preview 39:49 Closing

We is greater than Me | Pastor Di Beals | Venture Church

  Aug 31, 202641 min

We were never meant to follow Jesus alone. In this week’s message from our All In series, Pastor Di looks at Ecclesiastes 4 and the importance of meaningful relationships within the Body of Christ. Solomon reminds us that two are better than one because we are stronger, safer, more encouraged, and better equipped to keep moving forward when we walk through life together.Pastor Di challenges us to move beyond surface-level relationships and intentionally build community with people who can encourage us, help us back up when we fall, stand with us in difficult seasons, and help us continue pursuing Jesus. The world often tells us to build our lives around me, but Jesus invites us into we.We is greater than me.Timestamps0:00 Welcome0:27 Continuing the All In Series1:22 The Apple Watch Illustration2:27 Healthy Rhythms and the All In Track3:12 Why We Tend to Drift4:02 Leaning Into Relational Commitment4:49 Join a Group or Class5:52 A Dare to Build Meaningful Relationships6:21 Try Again, Try Something New, or Go Deeper6:46 We Is Greater Than Me7:37 Ecclesiastes and the Wisdom of Solomon8:28 Life Is Short, So How We Live Matters9:20 Solomon Observes the Person Who Is Alone10:06 Working Hard With No One to Share Life With11:54 “What Am I Doing All of This For?”13:25 The Unexamined Life14:20 Two Are Better Than One15:17 Benefit #1: We Work Better Together15:55 Encouraging Each Other to Keep Going16:45 Benefit #2: We Walk Better Together17:41 Pastor Di’s Hiking Accident18:53 Why Two Were Better Than One19:59 Helping Each Other Spiritually When We Fall20:44 You Can Do It Alone, But You’ll Still Be Alone21:10 Helping Each Other Back Up21:33 Benefit #3: We Bring Warmth23:06 The Power of Closeness and Connection24:30 Benefit #4: We Watch Each Other’s Backs25:55 Two Can Stand Back to Back and Conquer26:58 A Three-Strand Cord Is Not Easily Broken28:12 Jesus Is the Third Strand28:38 Jesus Prays That We Would Be One29:38 Jesus Is Present When We Gather30:03 We Were Never Meant to Walk Alone30:37 We Weren’t Meant to Carry Life Alone31:30 Community Has to Be Prioritized32:23 You May Have to Start Again33:23 The Enemy Wants to Keep Relationships Shallow33:54 Deep Friendships Help Us Grow34:19 Commit to Finding Your People35:06 Lead a Group or Join a Class36:05 Prayer for Meaningful Relationships37:32 Closing Prayer37:43 What’s Next Resources38:24 Giving & Kingdom Builders39:47 Back to Church Sunday40:10 Introducing Ruins to Revival40:33 Grandparents Day40:54 Saturday Night Interest Meeting41:10 Closing
