This Team Is A Bigger Obstacle For the Yankees Than the Rays
Send us Fan Mail With about five weeks left to the 2026 regular season, the Yankees entered this week just three games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays in the loss column in the American League East. With four games remaining on the schedule against the Rays, you could say that the Yankees are at least somewhat in control of their destiny. The problem, though, is this - the Boston Red Sox were just three games behind New York in the standings. And the Yankees host Boston this coming weekend in the Bronx in a four-game series that might actually be more important for New York than the Tampa Bay series. Yes, it would be great to catch the Rays and finish first in the division, but the prospect of facing the Red Sox at Fenway for the Wild Card Series is NOT a good scenario for the Yankees.
