E 87 | How to Build Long-Term Client Relationships
Episode Summary Everyone teaches you how to GET clients. Almost no one teaches you how to KEEP them, and keeping them is where the whole business lives. In this solo episode, Brandon makes the case that most coaches don't have a lead problem, they have a retention problem, and that retention isn't a marketing tactic -- it's the coaching relationship itself. Drawing on the working alliance, the coach-athlete relationship model, and self-determination theory (and staying honest about what the research does and doesn't prove), you'll get a practical framework for keeping clients for years instead of weeks. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN Why a small lift in retention swamps almost anything you do on acquisition The three legs of the coaching alliance -- and the one clients break without telling you Why the first 90 days decide the relationship (and why the 21-day habit rule is a myth) The listen-first communication shift that builds buy-in instead of resistance Why difficult clients are diagnostic data, not verdicts Check-in, memory, and community systems that scale personal attention How to handle ruptures and exits so clients boomerang and refer DISCLAIMER This podcast is for educational and informational purposes only and should not be considered medical, fitness, or professional advice.
