102 Broad Street The Henry Frost Home and 103 Broad Street is The John Hurkamp & Company
102 Broad Street Dr. Henry Frost, a physician, built this three-and- a-half story stuccoed brick residence in the Greek Revival stvle in 1844. After Frost's death, iust after the Civil War, the property was sold to Dr John F. M. Geddings, who had been a Confederate army surgeon and later a professor of medicine at the South Carolina Medical College 103 Broad Street Constrctede. 1840 This three-story frame building was constructed by Peter Brase, a grocer. He bought the lot in 1837 and replaced a brick house on the site. For more than 140 years it housed the grocery business of John Hurkamp & Company, followed by the Automatic Grocery and then the Piggly Wiggly supermarket. The Piggly Wiggly closed in 1983 and was torn down in the 1990s.
