The Wellness Blueprint: With Dr. Caleb Davis
BPC-157, Peptides & Biohacking: Do They Actually Work?
BPC-157 may be one of the hottest compounds in fitness and biohacking but the science is a lot more complicated than social media makes it sound. In this episode, Caleb and Nicole dive into the gray-market world of peptides being promoted for injury recovery, muscle growth, tanning, weight loss, sexual performance, and longevity. Caleb breaks down BPC-157 and the surprisingly promising animal research behind tendon, ligament, and muscle healing and explains why that still isn't enough to confidently recommend it to patients. They also discuss Sermorelin, CJC-1295, Melanotan, growth-hormone pathways, and some of the potentially serious side effects associated with these compounds. The bigger problem may be the peptide market itself. What is actually in the vial? Is it sterile? Is the dose accurate? Has it been stored correctly? And even if you're receiving the real compound, do we actually know the appropriate human dose or long-term risks? They also get into placebo effects, med-spa medicine, biohacking culture, gym recovery, cancer concerns, and why optimizing sleep, nutrition, training, and recovery probably matters much more than chasing the newest peptide. The science is fascinating. Some of these drugs may ultimately have legitimate medical uses. But right now, promising biology and promising animal studies aren't the same thing as proven, safe human medicine. Nothing discussed on this podcast constitutes medical advice.
