  In August 1986, 21 year old Diane Lindell ran out of petrol as she drove home from working a shift at a local pub. Witnesses recalled seeing her walking up Borough Road, in the direction of Tranmere - one witness even recalled seeing her arguing with a man. When Diane's finance awoke the next day and she hadn't returned, he started to call around her family and employment to see if she had stayed there, when they confirmed she hadn't\t - panic began to set in, but before they could even report her as missing, a grim discovery was made by a dog walker. Diane's partially naked beaten and mutilated body. And so, Merseyside Police found themselves dealing with the biggest murder inquiry in their history - they took descriptions from witnesses and suddenly, someone came on to Merseyside Police's radar. Peter Sullivan - he sort of resembled the descriptions given, he was questioned and gave two different accounts of his whereabouts on the night Diane was murdered. Despite having a known learning difficulty, Peter was refused a solicitor or an appropriate adult whilst in custody. Peter apparently made a confession - however, this was during a conversation that wasn't recorded. Peter was made the fit the evidence, and was convicted of Diane's murder - a jury also believed in the circumstantial evidence. Despite being sentenced to life imprisonment, Peter continued to maintain his innocence. In 2021, the CCRC re-reviewed his appeal and it was found that a semen sample from Diane's body - it was tested for DNA, and miraculously - it didn't belong to Peter Sullivan! Peter, by this point, had spent 38 years in prison. If Peter didn't kill Diane, then who did?   On 2nd October 1988, 23-year-old Laurence Winstanley left work and headed to a local pub in Shaw, Greater Manchester. A seemingly ordinary day would end with Laurence being brutally murdered, his body later discovered in Baitings Reservoir in West Yorkshire. But almost four decades later, the circumstances surrounding his death remain shrouded in unanswered questions. Why did Laurence receive a mysterious telephone call at The Windsor pub? Why did a journey that should have taken just five minutes take around an hour? And why was his car later found abandoned at a scrapyard — only to be destroyed before police could properly examine it? There was a Crimewatch appeal. There were witnesses who came forward. There was even a £25,000 reward offered by Laurence’s mother in the hope that someone would finally break their silence. But despite all of this, nobody has ever been brought to justice for Laurence’s murder. And perhaps most hauntingly, police believed Laurence may have had a part of his life that he had never revealed to those closest to him.   Who Is Bible John?

  In February 1968, Glasgow, Scotland found themselves living in horror when a woman, Patricia Docker, was murdered following a night attending Barrowland Ballroom. She had been severely beaten across her face and head, strangled with her own stocking and was found naked, missing her bag and with a used sanitary towel next to her body that was later revealed to be hers. It seemed to be an isolated murder for 18 months, until Jemima McDonald. Jemima had planned an evening out to Barrowland Ballroom in August 1969, her sister staying at home to watch Jemima's three children, when Jemima failed to come home the following morning and with rumours of children finding a body in a derelict building a few doors down, her sister decided to take a look and their she found her sisters body - partially clothed, her bag missing and a sanitary towel left at the scene belonging to Jemima. Police determined that Patricia and Jemima's murders were not linked, despite Jemima also being beaten across the head and face and strangled to death with her own stocking - however, more witnesses came forward this time and they managed to build a picture of the suspect. Just over two months lack Helen Puttock and her sister Jean headed to Barrowland Ballroom, whilst there, the sisters began talking to two men, both named John. The John that Helen was talking too seemed quiet and reserved, however, joined the sisters in a taxi ride home and soon began to talk. He insisted on dropping Jean home first and John and Helen continued the taxi ride together - by the morning, Helen's body was found in her back garden, she had been beaten around the head and face, strangled with her own stocking and her sanitary towel was found on her being. The nickname Bible John was formed from Jean's recollection of him quoting the Old Testament - but despite Jean getting a good look of Bible John, and with police now linking all three murders, they hoped to finally capture the man putting the fear of god into woman of Glasgow - but to this day, Bible John has never been found.   The Disappearance of Lars Mittank

  At the end of June 2014, Lars and 5 of his friends took a lads holiday to Bulgaria. This was Lars' first holiday outside of this home country, Germany, and unlike his usual trips to go fishing or diving. The week flew by filled with swimming, laughter, drinks and, with the World Cup being on - plenty of football. On the 3rd July 2014, Lars and his friends went to watch the Argentina V Netherlands match in a local bar, when they ran into an altercation with another group of lads over football. Following this fall out, Lars' friends headed to McDonalds, but Lars told them he was going to walk back to the hotel - when his friends returned - Lars wasn't there. The next morning, Lars reappeared and told his friends he had been beaten up by a group of 4 men the bar had hired, although not looking like he had been beaten up, Lars did complain of ear pain and went to see a local doctor who diagnosed a burst eardrum. The doctor told Lars he would not be able to fly home on the 7th July as planned, but referred him to see another doctor in nearby city, Varna. Lars saw this other doctor, who prescribed him some antibiotics. Lars friends flew home as planned, despite offering to stay with Lars, the following day, Lars mum had paid for him to fly back to Hamburg but asked that he see the airport doctor prior to the flight to ensure he would be ok to fly. Lars went to see the doctor, but as the consultation finished, he fled the office, fled the airport and ran into some nearby woodland - he has not been seen since.   What happened to Trish Haynes?

  This weeks episode comes from New Hampshire, America - and despite being classed as Unsolved, seems to have a pretty obvious ending, however, despite multiple witnesses - one of which including a confession - no one has ever been arrested in connection to the murder of Trish Haynes. Trish was 25 years old when in January 2018, she travelled from Florida to New Hampshire to attend a court date in relation to a false allegation claim. Trish initially had stayed with a good friend, but due to the court date being pushed back and her feeling isolated, she moved in with an old "classmate" Ashlee Smith, her husband Doug Smith and the five children between them. It was after this move, that family back in Florida started noting some red flags, Trish stopped communicating with them, had claimed to have lost her phone and was given a set time as to when she could use Ashlee's phone. Trish had always been exceptionally close to her maternal grandmother, Sandy and her great aunt, Val - and when this communication started to seize - Sandy and Val became concerned. Ashlee told them that Trish wanted nothing more to do with the family, but not believing this, Sandy told Ashlee she wanted to hear this from Trish's own mouth and if she didn't contact within a set time, Sandy would report Trish as missing. Following being filed as am missing person, New Hampshire Police received a tip off - search Grants Ponds - what they found was horrifying. At the depths on the pond was a washer dryer combo, inside were human remains - these belonged to Trish. Despite this finding, Sandy was told by police not to tell anyone that they had found Trish's body. Witnesses started to come forward as to how Ashlee and Doug had treated Trish - yet to this day, neither have been arrested in connection to her murder.
