It’s time for the Glory Hole Challenge, where Riz gets blindfolded, blasted with Rammstein through his headphones and forced to identify four mystery objects using nothing but his face, mouth, nose and increasingly questionable decision-making skills. Welcome to another funny podcast from The Rizzuto Show, where HR stopped returning our calls years ago. First through the hole: the headstock of a Fender Stratocaster signed by Staind. Seems obvious when you can actually SEE it. When you can’t, apparently guitar tuners feel a lot like somebody aggressively rubbing a marker across your face. Riz guesses lipstick, a marker and finally “some kind of roller.” All incorrect. Guitar: 1. Riz: 0. Next up is a fake flower that immediately gets shoved into his nose and mouth. Riz knows it’s plastic. He knows it’s weird. He thinks it could be fake turf, a scrub brush or something sporting-related. Somehow “fake flower” never enters the conversation. Then comes a freshly cut piece of aloe vera. It’s wet. It’s slimy. It smells weird. Naturally, Riz BITES IT. After wondering whether someone shoved a paintbrush or sex toy through the hole, he finally figures out that he’s dealing with a real plant. And then Rafe chooses violence. For the final round, he brings out king oyster and chestnut mushrooms — knowing full well that Riz absolutely HATES mushrooms. Even better, Rafe checked with Riz’s wife beforehand, and she happily joined the conspiracy. Riz gets the mushrooms rubbed across his face. He thinks they might be a washcloth. Then maybe a sex toy. Then he starts biting them. Not once. TWICE. The moment he realizes what he’s been chewing leads to gagging, near-cursing and enough disgust to make everybody else start gagging too. Meanwhile, Rammstein continues blasting away in the background like the official soundtrack to workplace betrayal.   DAILY SHOW: Children Are The New Cigarette | The Rizzuto Comedy Podcast

  We kick things off with news that Kitchen Nightmares is filming in Missouri, which has Rizz remembering the horrifying moment he realized he’d eaten at a restaurant featured on Gordon Ramsay’s show. Then it’s time for the Riz Quiz, where callers discover that common knowledge becomes significantly less common when there’s a 45-second clock ticking. We get Paris panic, a dried plum becoming a raisin, Canada’s capital becoming Ontario and, eventually, Lern estimating the Space Needle at an extremely reasonable 12,549 feet tall . Actual answer: 605 feet. She was only off by approximately an entire mountain. Meanwhile, a former police lieutenant is accused of clocking in and spending huge chunks of his shifts sitting in the station break room — including stretches of nine hours. Sure, there may have been crime elsewhere, but the crew points out one undeniable statistic: zero murders in that break room. We also rank some of rock’s supposedly smelliest fan bases, with Phish, Grateful Dead and Insane Clown Posse fans leading a fragrant list that also drags Tool, Slipknot, Korn, Primus, Limp Bizkit and plenty more into the stink. Then Riz remembers what awaits him on Friday: the Glory Hole Challenge. No sight, no sound, just smell, taste and “face feel.” What could possibly go wrong? Rafe’s birthday leftovers also continue when an Edible Arrangement turns dangerous and he accidentally bites into part of a candle because he was told everything was edible. From there, we tackle Halloween’s annual neighborhood civil war: is it acceptable to take your kids trick-or-treating somewhere you don’t live? The answer from the show is basically yes — especially if the rich neighborhood is hoarding the king-size Reese’s behind the gates. Plus, coffee shop squatters, phone-free restaurants, TSA agents losing their chairs, an incredible eight-story fall survival story and enough completely unnecessary arguments to remind everyone why this show should never be trusted with serious decisions.   Kitchen Nightmares, Rizz Quiz Fails & the 12,000-Foot Space Needle

  Gordon Ramsay is bringing Kitchen Nightmares to Missouri, which immediately has Riz reminiscing about the horrifying realization that he once ate at a restaurant featured on the show. She admits she’s “measurement blind,” which quickly becomes one of the great understatements in funny show history. That leads us into a completely reasonable discussion about whether anyone on the show could accurately estimate the height of the studio window, followed by the more concerning question of how everyone would escape if they couldn’t use the door. Chairs are considered. The soundproof glass is analyzed. Rafe volunteers to Kool-Aid Man himself through the window because apparently being the show hero now includes testing your body against commercial-grade glass. And somehow that brings us to the incredible story of a University of Georgia student who survived an eight-story fall from an apartment window after dancing on a couch. She reportedly landed on a cushioned metal bench and survived with serious injuries, which has the crew marveling at an unbelievably lucky landing — and wondering who decided furniture belonged directly next to floor-to-ceiling windows in the first place. So we’ve got Gordon Ramsay, Kitchen Nightmares, trivia meltdowns, Paris confusion, raisins pretending to be prunes, a skyscraper-sized Space Needle and Rafe preparing to launch himself through the studio glass.   Break Room Bandits And Smelly Fans

  How long could you sit in your workplace break room doing absolutely nothing before somebody noticed? An hour? Maybe two? Well, one former police lieutenant apparently decided to push that experiment all the way to NINE HOURS, and naturally The Rizzuto Show has nothing but questions, admiration and several concerns about the safety of the station coffee. Welcome to another comedy podcast from The Rizzuto Show, where we begin with the story of a veteran Burlington police lieutenant accused of spending massive chunks of his shifts sitting in the break room instead of, you know… police-ing. Sometimes it was nine hours. Sometimes he mixed things up and only spent six hours in there before doing three hours of actual work. But while crime may have existed outside those walls, the crew makes one very important observation: crime in that break room was ZERO. Protect and serve, baby. Unfortunately, our break-room hero’s story gets considerably less heroic when we learn about an alleged confrontation with the officer who reported him and more than $50,000 in overpayments that he apparently never bothered mentioning. Suddenly the safest coffee station in Vermont has become a very expensive place to sit. Then we move from people who stink at working to people who apparently just… stink. The crew dives into a list ranking rock bands with the worst-smelling fan bases, and it immediately becomes one of those conversations where everybody you’ve ever seen at a concert is about to catch a stray. Phish takes the top spot, followed by the Grateful Dead and Insane Clown Posse, while GWAR, Primus, Tool, Slipknot, Korn, Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Deftones and plenty more get dragged into the fragrant festivities. Basically, if you’ve ever attended a rock festival in August and thought, “What IS that smell?” congratulations — apparently science has finally arrived. This comedy podcast also asks the opposite question: which band has the BEST-smelling fans? Coldplay? The Killers? Santana? Jimmy Buffett? We learn that determining a fan base’s aroma involves an alarming amount of discussion about patchouli, weed, mothballs, tequila, feet and minivans. From there, Crap on Celebrities delivers another pile of entertainment chaos. Eddie Vedder surprises fans during a performance of “Hunger Strike,” Alice Cooper discusses his past addiction struggles, Nicolas Cage explains why modern superhero movies have become a little too much like professional wrestling, and Arnold Schwarzenegger is putting on the Santa suit for a new Christmas movie. There’s also a debate over what Rizz should watch while he has the house to himself. Mortal Kombat? Barbarian? Normal? Apparently being alone for one evening requires the same level of strategic planning normally reserved for military operations. Plus, we get into Robert Downey Jr.’s painful Iron Man stunt injury, the return of 24 Jump Street, Hugh Jackman heading to Treasure Island, and predictions for the Halloween costumes everybody will be wearing this year. And because October is officially here, the crew lays out the Rizz Show October fundraiser supporting Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. The Halloweirdo stickers are back, the Rizz Show billboard is hitting the road, Hats of the Week are returning, and Greek Fire is getting involved to help raise money for the kids. So today we’ve got break-room bandits, smelly Phish fans, Nicolas Cage superhero complaints, questionable Halloween costumes, Rizz’s movie-night dilemma and an extremely important reminder that if you’re attending a concert anytime soon, maybe hit the deodorant one extra time.   Glory Hole Friday, Edible Arrangements & Trick-or-Treating Etiquette

  It’s Thursday, which means we’re almost at Friday — except Riz has suddenly remembered that Friday means sticking his face into the Glory Hole Challenge with no sight, no sound, and absolutely no guarantee that whatever touches his face belongs anywhere near a human mouth. So naturally, everyone is extremely supportive by immediately making the situation worse. Welcome to another funny podcast from The Rizzuto Show, where Rafe is still celebrating his birthday and discovers that Edible Arrangements has apparently undergone a full rebrand since the days when somebody would send you twelve pounds of cantaloupe on sticks. Ella Langley sent Rafe an upgraded birthday arrangement loaded with mini cheesecakes, chocolate-covered fruit, brownies and enough deceptive desserts to make him forget the word “edible” does not necessarily mean “eat literally everything.” Which is how Rafe ate part of a birthday candle. In his defense, there were edible decorations everywhere. In everyone else’s defense, it was very clearly still a candle. The conversation then moves into October’s most important annual class war: trick-or-treating etiquette . Is it acceptable to take your kids into another neighborhood for Halloween? What if your neighborhood barely participates? What if the other neighborhood is loaded with rich people handing out king-size candy bars? And if you live behind the gates of a fancy community, do you have a moral obligation to open those gates and let the candy-starved masses inside? Apparently some homeowners think Halloween candy is a finite natural resource that must be protected from outsiders. We respectfully disagree. Open the gates. Release the Reese’s. Then we tackle another modern etiquette nightmare: people who buy one coffee, open a laptop and quietly annex a Starbucks table for the next seven hours. How long does one latte actually entitle you to free Wi-Fi and office space? Ninety minutes? Three hours? Until somebody physically removes your charger? The crew debates coffee shop squatters, Zoom calls in public and why basic self-awareness could solve approximately 94% of society’s problems. Speaking of phones, restaurants are experimenting with phone-free dining, leading to the obvious question: if a host asked you “phones or no phones?” like it was the old smoking section, which side are you choosing? Lern is willing to go phone-free. Moon mostly wants everybody to stop telling him how to eat dinner. Rafe would apparently prefer to eat alone over a sink in the kitchen while making prolonged eye contact with strangers. Perfectly normal funny podcast behavior. Meanwhile, the TSA has finally identified the problem plaguing American air travel: chairs. Agents checking IDs are being asked to stand, which naturally inspires the crew to wonder whether Riz should also lose his chair in the name of looking more alert and professional. Somehow this detours into Hawk Tuah Girl updates, because this show has never met a conversational exit ramp it couldn't miss. We also preview some October entertainment, including the gloriously ridiculous-looking Street Fighter movie, where Jason Momoa, Cody Rhodes, Eric André and a pile of wrestlers, rappers and actors appear ready to punch the remaining dignity out of cinema. Moon is completely sold, mostly because it appears designed specifically for the 13-year-old portion of his brain that refuses to die. So yes: Glory Hole anxiety, birthday candle consumption, Halloween candy economics, coffee shop squatters, phone-free restaurants, standing TSA agents, Hawk Tuah updates and Street Fighter .
