4.7 - Dead Man's Wire: Cruel capitalism, a media spectacle, and seeking justice
Happy Fall, everyone! This week, we dived into the 2025 crime thriller Dead Man's Wire . Directed by Gus Van Sant, this film untangles the true, unbelievable story of a tense 63-hour hostage standoff that took over Indianapolis, Indiana back in February 1977. The star-studded lineup features Bills Skarsgård, Dacre Montgomery, Myha'la, Colman Domingo, and Al Pacino. If you are keepings core, this makes the third time we have featured a movie starring a Skarsgård. In honor of our favorite Swedes, we are officially raising a glass to Stockholm's finest export, besides IKEA and ABBA, of course. But knowing our track record, it is only a matter of time before we queue up another Skarsgård film to complete the set. To wash down all that 1970s hostage tension, we paired the movie with Pink Truce Vino Rosato from Puglia, Italy. It opens with soft scents of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, peach, and gentle floral undertones. On this palate, it is juicy, crisp, and fresh with flavors of sour cherry and cranberry, plus a playful hint of bubblegum fruitiness It wraps up with a clean, dry finish and a refreshing splash of citrus and soft lemon. We figured a bright, perfectly balanced Rosato is the total opposite of a literal dead man's wire, making it the ultimate palate cleanser to keep your nerves steady during a high-stakes viewing.
