Daily Devotional: Think You Have Nothing To Offer God?

  Oct 1, 202610 minS1

Can someone really live their entire life apart from God, turn to Jesus at the very end, and still be saved? In Episode 144 of The Hall Hotline , Jon tackles the idea of the “11th-hour salvation loophole” by looking at one of the clearest examples of grace in the Bible: the criminal on the cross beside Jesus. While one criminal mocked Jesus, the other recognized his own guilt, recognized who Jesus was, and simply said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” — Luke 23:43 This man had no time to clean up his life. He couldn’t get baptized, go to church, start doing good works, repair his past, or spend years proving he had changed. All he had was faith. That’s the incredible message of grace: salvation isn’t about building a good enough résumé. It’s about putting your faith in Jesus Christ. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… not by works, so that no one can boast.” — Ephesians 2:8–9 And remember this simple acronym: GRACE — God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. TODAY’S CHALLENGE: What are you still trying to fix before you bring it to Jesus? Stop trying to make yourself worthy of Him. Bring Him the sin, the failure, the shame, and the thing you think disqualifies you—and trust in His grace. The criminal didn’t get into paradise because he finally became good enough. He got there because Jesus was good enough. Stand Firm. Answer the Call. Live with Purpose. ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS 00:00 — Good Morning, Party People! 01:03 — A Conversation About Atheism & Faith 01:34 — The “11th-Hour Salvation Loophole” 02:51 — The Two Criminals Crucified With Jesus 03:30 — Luke 23:35–43: The Criminal on the Cross 04:32 — “Today You Will Be With Me in Paradise” 04:58 — He Had Nothing Left to Offer Jesus 05:36 — What If You Don’t Have Time to Clean Up Your Life? 06:01 — Saved by Grace Through Faith — Ephesians 2:8–9 06:36 — GRACE: God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense 07:06 — Today’s Challenge 08:01 — Closing Thoughts & A Special Thank You 09:03 — God Already Paid the Price #TheHallHotline #ChristianPodcast #Faith #Jesus #Grace #Salvation #SavedByGrace #FaithInJesus #BibleStudy #Luke23 #ThiefOnTheCross #ChristianLiving #Gospel #JesusChrist #StandFirm

Daily Devotional: When You’re Just Not Feeling It

  Sep 30, 202613 minS1

Some days, you just aren’t feeling it. You’re tired. Unmotivated. Discouraged. Maybe overwhelmed. And sometimes that can make us wonder if something is wrong with us spiritually. But then there’s Elijah. In 1 Kings 18, Elijah stands on Mount Carmel and witnesses one of the most incredible displays of God’s power in the Bible. Fire falls from heaven. The people proclaim that the Lord is God. After years of drought, the rain returns. Then, just one chapter later, Elijah is exhausted, afraid, sitting under a tree and telling God, “I have had enough.” Yesterday’s victory does not prevent you from being exhausted today. And look at how God responded. He didn’t condemn Elijah. He allowed him to sleep. He provided food and water. He gave him rest before sending him forward again. Sometimes you don’t need to quit. You just need to rest. In this episode of The Hall Hotline, we talk about discouragement, exhaustion, Elijah’s journey from Mount Carmel to the wilderness, and the reminder that you don’t always have to feel it to be faithful. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9 ⏱️ Timestamps 00:00 — When You’re Just Not Feeling It 01:25 — You Don’t Have to Feel It to Be Faithful 01:39 — Who Was Elijah? 02:49 — Ahab, Jezebel & the Worship of Baal 03:54 — Elijah Challenges Ahab 04:29 — The Showdown on Mount Carmel 05:30 — Elijah’s Turn: Fire From Heaven 06:14 — From an Incredible Victory to Exhaustion 06:33 — Jezebel Threatens Elijah 07:14 — Yesterday’s Victory Doesn’t Prevent Today’s Exhaustion 07:36 — How God Responded to Elijah 08:17 — Sometimes You’re Just Tired 08:43 — Your Calling Hasn’t Disappeared 09:13 — Eventually, You Have to Get Back Up 09:33 — Today’s Challenge: Rest, But Don’t Quit 09:51 — Galatians 6:9 10:19 — You Don’t Have to Feel It to Be Faithful 10:24 — Prayer 11:41 — Closing Thoughts Today’s Challenge Give yourself some grace today. If you need to rest, take some time to rest. If you need to spend some time with God, take that time. But don’t mistake needing rest for needing to quit. Closing Thought “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9 It doesn’t say you’re not going to get tired. It says don’t give up. You don’t always have to feel it to be faithful. Prayer Lord, meet us when we’re tired. Give us the rest we need and encourage those of us who are discouraged. Remind us that we can rest in You when we are weary. Give us grace and patience with ourselves to remember that it’s okay to be tired. Help us find our rest in You and keep going when the time comes. Amen. Stand firm and walk humbly with the Lord. Because that’s the Hall way. #TheHallHotline #ChristianPodcast #Faith #Elijah #Galatians69 #DontGiveUp #FaithOverFeelings #ChristianEncouragement #BibleStudy #RestInGod #Discouragement #ChristianLiving #Jesus #God

Bible Study Guide: Part 2 - Ok Cool… You Started Reading the Bible... Now What?

  Sep 25, 202618 minS1

You want to read the Bible — but after you get started, where do you go next? In Part 1 of the Bible Study Guide, we built a foundation with James, John, and Ephesians . Today, we keep building with three more books: Philippians, Romans, and Acts . We’ll look at why Paul could write about joy while imprisoned, what Philippians 4:13 actually means in context, why Romans takes us deeper into sin, grace, faith, salvation, and the Gospel, and how Acts shows us the explosive growth of the early Church. By the end of these two episodes, you’ll have a simple six-book roadmap: James → John → Ephesians → Philippians → Romans → Acts You don't need to understand everything. You don't need a theology degree. And you don't need to race through the entire Bible. Start small. Stay consistent. Keep showing up. The goal isn't simply to say, “I've read the Bible.” The goal is to become someone who can say, “I'm reading the Bible, and I'm learning from the Bible.” ⏱️ EPISODE TIMESTAMPS 00:00 — Welcome & Recap of Part 1 01:25 — The Six-Book Bible Reading Roadmap 02:03 — Book #4: Philippians — Learning to Live With Joy 03:45 — What Philippians 4:13 Really Means 05:10 — Book #5: Romans — Going Deeper 06:13 — Why Does Humanity Need Jesus? 07:08 — Sin, Grace & the Gospel in Romans 08:08 — Book #6: Acts — How the Church Began 10:00 — Saul's Transformation Into the Apostle Paul 11:33 — Putting the Six-Book Roadmap Together 12:20 — Why We're Finally Ready to Go Back to Genesis 12:47 — Prayer 14:22 — Today's Challenge: One Chapter a Day 14:58 — Three Questions to Ask After Every Chapter 15:58 — Reading the Bible vs. Having Read the Bible 16:43 — What's Next: Going Back to Genesis 16:53 — Closing Thoughts TODAY'S CHALLENGE Follow the roadmap: James → John → Ephesians → Philippians → Romans → Acts Start with one chapter a day . After each chapter, ask yourself: 1. What did I learn about God? 2. What did I learn about myself? 3. What am I going to do differently today because of what I read? Don't worry about understanding everything. When something doesn't make sense, don't quit — dig deeper. We're not reading Scripture just to collect information. We're reading Scripture because we want to know the God who gave it to us. Stand firm. Answer the call. Live with purpose. And until next time, stand firm and walk humbly with the Lord. Bible Study Guide: Part 1 - Want to Read the Bible? Don’t Start at Genesis

  Sep 24, 202615 minS1

Want to start reading the Bible but have no idea where to begin? Most people naturally start at Genesis. And there’s nothing wrong with that — Genesis is awesome. Then you get into Exodus and Moses, Pharaoh, the plagues and the Red Sea. You're cruising. You're crushing that Bible reading plan. And then... Leviticus. Suddenly you're reading about sacrifices, priests, dietary laws, clean and unclean, skin diseases and hundreds of laws — and that Bible-reading plan starts collecting dust. Maybe you're not bad at reading the Bible. Maybe nobody ever taught you a practical place to start. In Part 1 of this Bible Study Guide, I share the first three books I recommend reading to build a foundation: James — Learn What Faith Looks Like John — Meet Jesus Ephesians — Understand Who You Are in Christ Together, that's only 32 chapters. Read one chapter a day and you've got about a month of Bible reading — while building a foundation for understanding the rest of Scripture. ⏱️ EPISODE TIMESTAMPS 00:00 — Why this episode is a little different 00:42 — “I want to read the Bible, but where do I start?” 01:25 — Why starting at Genesis can get difficult 01:56 — Hitting the Leviticus wall 02:39 — The Bible isn't a novel — it's a library 03:45 — The first three books I recommend 03:54 — #1 James: Learn what faith looks like 06:16 — #2 John: Meet Jesus 08:24 — #3 Ephesians: Understand who you are 10:22 — Your first 32 chapters 11:17 — Prayer 12:42 — Today's Challenge: Start James 13:24 — Don't be intimidated by Scripture 14:25 — What's coming in Part 2 TODAY'S CHALLENGE Start with James. Five chapters. Five days. One chapter a day. Before you read, pray: “God, show me what You want me to see today.” Then ask yourself: What did I learn about God? What did I learn about myself? Don't worry about finishing the entire Bible. Don't make it a race. Start small. Stay consistent. Ask questions. Keep showing up. Don't just read the Bible so you can say you finished it. Read it so God can use it to change you. In Part 2, we'll continue the Bible-reading roadmap with Philippians, Romans, and Acts. Stand firm and walk humbly with the Lord. That's the Hall way. #TheHallWayPodcast #BibleStudy #BibleStudyGuide #ReadTheBible #BibleReading #BookOfJames #GospelOfJohn #Ephesians #ChristianPodcast #ChristianLiving #Faith #Jesus #Scripture

Daily Devotional: An Epic Time At Epic Universe All Started With An Epic Prayer

  Sep 23, 202611 minS1

What if prayer doesn’t change what happens around you—but changes what happens inside you? This past weekend, we took the kids to Epic Universe to celebrate Tyler’s 8th birthday. Before we even got there, Addy asked if she could pray for our day. She prayed that we’d have a great time, that nothing would get us upset, and that we’d simply enjoy being together. And then came 200+ minute lines, Florida rain, plans that went off track, and a ride on Stardust Racers that left me sick as a dog. But none of it ruined our day. In Episode 140 of The Hall Hotline, we look at James 5:16 and Philippians 4:6–7 and talk about the power of praying BEFORE something goes wrong. God may not always remove the long line, stop the rain, or immediately change the situation—but He can give us peace and change the way we respond to it. Maybe instead of praying, “God, make today go my way,” we should start praying, “God, whatever happens today, help me respond Your way.” ⏱️ EPISODE TIMESTAMPS 00:00 — Good morning, party people! 00:20 — Our Epic Universe birthday adventure 01:04 — Celebrating Tyler’s 8th birthday 01:31 — Why theme park days can get stressful 02:21 — Addy asks to pray before we arrive 02:38 — What she prayed for our family 02:52 — Long lines, rain, changed plans & motion sickness 03:34 — What does this have to do with a Bible study? 03:47 — James 5:16: Prayer is powerful and effective 04:20 — What Addy DIDN’T pray for 04:42 — Stop only asking God to change everything around you 05:08 — Sometimes prayer changes what’s inside of us 05:16 — Philippians 4:6–7 05:51 — God doesn’t promise everything will go perfectly 06:22 — Same circumstances, different response 06:33 — Stardust Racers got me good 07:04 — What if we prayed BEFORE something went wrong? 07:27 — Pray before you even pick up your phone 07:46 — Prayer 09:10 — Today’s Challenge 09:48 — Sometimes God uses our kids to teach us 10:11 — Pray first, then trust God with what comes next Stand firm.
