They Asked for a Blessing... They Got the Business
Aug 24, 20261h 4m
In this episode we sit down with Tara Davis and Sara Gardiner, owners of Blu Salons in Raleigh, to hear a story they never could have planned. After years behind the chair, they approached their salon owners hoping to get their blessing to open a salon of their own. Instead, they were handed an opportunity they never saw coming: the chance to take over all three salon locations. And then, just as they stepped into ownership, the world shut down. We talk about what it was really like going from stylists to salon owners almost overnight, navigating COVID as brand-new business owners, and eventually learning how to lead a company of nearly 100 employees. Tara and Sara share the highs, the hard lessons, the unexpected challenges, and everything that happened in between from figuring out leadership and managing a growing team to carrying the responsibility of a business much bigger than they originally imagined. If you’ve ever wondered what really happens when the opportunity you’ve been asking for shows up way bigger than you imagined, this episode is for you.
What if your biggest setback became your greatest opportunity? In this episode, we sit down with Dom Mednick , who shares how her own hair loss journey led her to create a thriving topper business after feeling dismissed by the medical community and realizing extensions were no longer an option for her. We talk about how she turned a personal challenge into a solution that's helped thousands of clients and salons, how she leveraged social media to grow her brand, and what it's really like balancing life behind the chair, salon ownership, her topper business, and educating as a Redken Artist. This episode is packed with inspiration, resilience, and branding insights for anyone looking to turn obstacles into opportunities.
No One Warns You About This Part of Salon Ownership
Jul 27, 202634 min
In this episode, we're getting honest about what happens when leadership evolves and many of the responsibilities salon owners once owned are delegated or outsourced. Heather shares her personal story of feeling lost after stepping away from the day-to-day tasks she had always identified with, and the journey of rediscovering where she could make the biggest impact. Instead of trying to hold onto work that no longer served the business, she leaned into what she's always done best: obsessing over the guest experience and viewing every touchpoint through the eyes of the consumer. That ultimately led her to take over leading our front desk team and completely rethink how the guest journey should feel from the very first interaction. If you've been questioning your place in your own company, struggling to find your purpose as your business grows, or wondering how to reignite the passion that got you here in the first place, this conversation is for you.
Everyone keeps saying you have to become a content creator to grow behind the chair in 2026... but is that actually true? In this episode, we're challenging the idea that social media is the ONLY path to a fully booked schedule. We break down the growth strategies that have consistently worked across our salons, from increasing your rebooking percentage and creating unforgettable guest experiences to generating referrals, word-of-mouth marketing, and turning existing clients into your biggest promoters. If you've been feeling slow, burned out trying to keep up with the algorithm, or wondering if you need to become an influencer to be successful, this episode is your reminder that there are still proven ways to build a thriving business without living on Instagram.
In this episode, we’re talking about the most important person you’ll ever lead in your company: yourself. As leaders, it’s easy to get caught up in the decisions, KPIs, systems, and operational side of running a business. But when we focus only on the logistics, we can lose sight of the energy, frequency, and emotional intelligence required to truly lead people. We dive into what it means to regulate yourself before leading others, how your energy impacts your team, and why creating space for difficult conversations starts with the way you show up. Most of this work has been led through Leadership Lab with Stef Fox, exploring how self-awareness, emotional regulation, and intentional leadership create stronger cultures and more connected teams. If you've ever felt like you're carrying the weight of leadership alone, this conversation is a reminder that the work starts within.
Every question we get asked before someone starts their trial.
If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
