Episode 51 - The Invisible Load: A Conversation About Motherhood
This conversation centers the real, often unseen experience of motherhood. We’ll explore the emotional, mental, and physical load that mothers/parents carry every day—from balancing work and family to navigating identity, expectation, and self-care. Joined by Heidi Frank, LCSW, who specializes in perinatal mental health and has worked closely with expecting individuals, this discussion will also gently touch on the unique transitions into motherhood and the support mothers need during that time. Through honest storytelling and shared experiences, we aim to bring visibility to the invisible work, validate the complexity of motherhood, and create space for connection, reflection, and support. Content Note: This episode includes discussion of pregnancy loss, postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, postpartum psychosis, and other maternal mental health challenges. We recognize that these experiences may be difficult or activating for some listeners and encourage you to engage in a way that feels supportive and safe for you.
