Silence Isn't a No: The Audacity To Ask For What You Want | Kira Matthews
There are only two things you need to get what you want: know what you want, and have the audacity to ask. Kira Matthews explains why the second one is so hard, and how to do it anyway. (Click here for Katie Farrell's Free Guide ) This one comes straight from the stage at Fashion Marketing Live, and I've been dying to share it with you. Kira Matthews has been on the podcast before, back on The Fashion Feed. She's a coach, the host of No Room for Doubt , and the founder of Pitch School, where she teaches founders and creators how to knock on the door of the brands on their bucket list and ask. She's pitched Ganni herself. Kira will be the first to tell you she doesn't have a fashion brand. But every one of you has a list: the stockist you'd love to be in, the collab, the press you'd kill for, the person whose reply would change your whole year. And most of us (I'm not gonna lie, me included) are working harder and harder, hoping somebody notices, instead of asking. That's what this talk is about. What Kira covers: The only two things you need to get what you want The two types of people in the world Why overworking the ask never works Fred and the air fryer. The Ganni email chain. The science bit. The motivational triad (avoid pain, seek pleasure, conserve energy) Why quitting feels so good, and what the first escalator at Harrods has to do with it Netflix, Blockbuster and the no that wasn't about the idea From the audience Q&A: the fact vs story exercise for when you're riddled with self-doubt.
