Heb. 11:20 By faith [to the saving of the soul] Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come . Gen. 24:15 And it happened, before he had finished speaking, that behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. 16 Now the young woman was very beautiful to behold, a virgin; no man had known her. And she went down to the well, filled her pitcher, and came up . The servant arrived in the city at evening time when women go out to draw water– Gen. 24:11 . The servant prayed to the Lord for the success of his mission, acknowledging that he stood by the well of water and the daughters of the men of the city were going to draw water– Gen. 24:13 . In answer to the servant’s prayer, a young woman by the name Rebekah showed up at the well to draw water– Gen. 24:15 . Rebekah was the daughter to Abraham’s nephew, hence fulfilled the first threshold i.e., she was from Abraham’s family– Gen. 24:4 but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.” Using her pitcher, Rebekah went down to the well, filled her pitcher (with water) and came up. It is inferred from the text that Rebekah went about her mission without any interaction with the servant until she had filled her pitcher– Gen. 24:17 And the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher.” The servant went straight to the point and by placing his request, she sought to establish IF Rebekah would meet the third and fourth thresholds i.e., be willing to offer a drink to the servant and the camels. Rebekah fulfilled the third and fourth thresholds– Gen. 24:18 So she said, “ Drink, my lord .” Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand, and gave him a drink . 19 And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “ I will draw water for your camels also , until they have finished drinking.” 20 Then she quickly emptied her pitcher into the trough, ran back to the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels .
