Building resilient landscapes: What happens when we work with nature?
Climate change is putting growing pressure on the landscapes, ecosystems and communities we value most. In this episode of the Climate Resilience Podcast, host Phil Emonson is joined by Ben Eardley, Nature Recovery Project Manager at the National Trust, to explore what it means to build resilience by working with nature, rather than trying to control it. From extreme heat and drought to pressures on water, wildlife and landscapes, Ben shares insights into how the National Trust is responding to a changing climate across one of the UK's largest land estates. The conversation moves beyond individual conservation projects to consider the bigger picture: catchment resilience, the restoration of ecosystem function, and the vital role that healthy rivers, wetlands and habitats can play in protecting both people and places. Phil and Ben also explore what it will take to deliver the systems change needed at scale - from policy and funding to changing how we use the land and bringing communities with us.
