The Sox & Rays Take a Commanding ALDS Lead
Are the Chicago White Sox the 2026 MLB team of destiny? It certainly feels that way after they took a commanding 2-0 series lead by winning Game 2 in Cleveland 4-3. After Cleveland took a 2-0 lead early, Murakami started the Sox comeback with an RBI single in the 4th. The rookie, BBM favorite, Braden Montgomery came through with a big two-run double in the sixth. Chase Meidroth added an RBI single in the 6th, and the Guardians never put the bats together to come back. BBM favorite Jo Adell hit a towering RBI triple in the bottom of the 8th - he just missed tying the game, but the Sox Grant Taylor closed it out, and the Sox are going to the Southside up two. The Yankees had their ace on the hill, but Cam Schlittler labored through 4.1 IP, and the Yankees defense was absolutely horrible. The Yankees committed three fielding errors in the first inning, and four for the game. Really, they played worse than the scorebook, if that makes sense. Meanwhile, Freddy Peralta looked like a new man, or rather, his old self for the Rays. He went 4.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 Ks. The only bright light for the Bombers was Ben Rice, who hit 2 solo homers in the game. Chandler Simpson and Richie Palacios were really good last night. Simpson: 1-for-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 SB, and Palacios delivered the big blow of the game — a two-run single in the 5th. The series now moved to the South Side of Chicago and the Bronx, but both the Guardians and Yankees have a tremendous hill to climb. Tonight, the Dodgers face the Braves at Truist Park, and the Brewers take on the Friars at Petco Park.
