God the Warrior — The LORD Is a Warrior
Awakened to Deliver — The Names of God Week 39 — God the Warrior Day 1 – The LORD Is a Warrior ⸻ Episode Highlights • Scripture reveals God as a warrior who is not passive in the face of evil. He acts in perfect holiness and righteousness, and no power that opposes Him can ultimately stand. • Israel’s deliverance at the Red Sea was not the result of their strength, strategy, or military ability. The Lord acted decisively against Pharaoh and accomplished a rescue His people could never have achieved themselves. • God’s warfare is never uncontrolled rage or sinful aggression. Because God is perfectly holy, His judgment against evil is always righteous, just, and consistent with His character. • The Lord’s willingness to confront evil is part of His goodness. Scripture reveals a God who is patient and merciful but who will not remain indifferent toward wickedness forever. • Israel’s response to God’s victory was worship rather than self-congratulation. The Lord was not merely powerful in an abstract sense—He had become their strength and salvation. • Knowing God as warrior means refusing to measure His ability by the size of the opposition. God’s people can confidently trust that nothing can ultimately overthrow His purposes. • The Gospel brings God’s holiness, judgment, mercy, and saving power into focus. Apart from Christ we stand guilty before God, but through Jesus’ death and bodily resurrection, salvation is offered by grace through faith in Him. ⸻ Scriptures to Reflect On • Exodus 15:1–6 — Israel praises Yahweh as the warrior who triumphs over His enemies and becomes the strength and salvation of His people. • Exodus 14:13–14 — Israel is called to stand firm and witness the Lord’s salvation because He Himself will fight for them. • Isaiah 42:13 — The Lord goes forth like a mighty warrior and triumphs over His enemies. • Psalm 24:7–10 — The Lord of Armies is revealed as the King of glory, strong and mighty in battle. • Isaiah 59:15–20 — The Lord puts on righteousness and salvation as armor and acts against evil according to His justice. • Romans 5:8–10 — Though sinners were enemies of God, reconciliation is offered through the death of His Son. ⸻ Takeaway Thought The God of Scripture is not passive before evil. He is holy, righteous, powerful, and completely victorious in accomplishing His purposes. But knowing God as warrior should produce humility rather than arrogance. Apart from His grace, we too stand guilty before Him. Through Jesus Christ, the God who judges evil has provided salvation for sinners. Our confidence is not in our ability to fight harder or overcome every enemy ourselves. It is in the Lord who is our strength and salvation. He is righteous, He is powerful, and He does not lose. ⸻ Stay Connected Grab a free digital copy of 30 Days of Patience and explore more resources in the Linktree below.
