Teach Me Something Hosted By DJ Prostyle & Penny Dellas
Creativity & Purpose with Darryl “DMC” McDaniels
In this legendary episode of Teach Me Something, hosts DJ Prostyle and Penny Dellas welcome Darryl McDaniels — better known to the world as DMC, founding member of Run-DMC, one of the most influential groups in hip-hop history. Born in New York City and raised in Hollis, Queens, Darryl helped transform rap music into a global cultural force. As one-third of Run-DMC, he helped break barriers as part of the first rap group to achieve gold and platinum status, the first rap group on MTV, and the first rap group on the cover of Rolling Stone. Run-DMC’s influence on music, fashion, and pop culture remains immeasurable, with milestones including their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2009 and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. Beyond music, DMC is also an author, speaker, philanthropist, and creative force. He co-founded The Felix Organization, which supports children in foster care, launched Darryl Makes Comics, and has used his platform to advocate for adoption awareness, mental health, and purpose-driven living. He is the co-author of the memoir Ten Ways Not to Commit Suicide and the autobiography King of Rock. His official site also teases a new book available for pre-order, giving fans yet another chapter in his evolving creative legacy. New episodes every Wednesday!
