Episode 177: When Did We Become So Easily Offended? | Standing for What’s Right Without Being Outraged by Everything
Sep 15, 20267 minS5
Maybe the problem isn't that we're too easily offended. Maybe we're offended by the wrong things. Nearly 30 years ago, I held a door open for a man and respectfully called him “sir.” His response stunned me: “Don't you call me sir! I can open the door for myself!” I learned that day that what one person intends as respect, another can receive as an insult. But today I'm asking a bigger question: Have we become more sensitive without becoming more discerning? Jesus wasn't afraid to get angry when something sacred was being dishonored. He overturned tables in the Temple. Scripture tells us to be slow to anger, but it also calls us to speak truth in love and stand for what is right. So how do we know the difference between something that's merely different , something that personally offends us , and something that's actually wrong ? In Episode 177, we explore culture, faith, leadership, Europe, Kilimanjaro, and why Christians shouldn't waste their outrage on every disagreement—or become so afraid of offending someone that we stop standing for truth. Not everything that offends me is wrong. And not everything that's wrong offends me enough. ️ Summit After the Storm Podcast with Bart Wilbanks #Faith #ChristianPodcast #Jesus #ChristianLiving #SpeakTruth #StandForTruth #FaithOverFear #BiblicalTruth #ChristianEncouragement #Leadership #Courage #James1 #PersonalGrowth #LifeLessons #SummitAfterTheStorm
Episode 176: The Stranger Beside You | My Wife Was Once a Stranger Sitting Next to Me on a Plane
Sep 14, 20267 minS5
What if one conversation with a stranger changed the rest of your life? Years ago, I boarded an airplane and started talking with the stranger sitting beside me. We talked about life, where they were from, where they had been, and where they were going. I had no idea that stranger would eventually become my wife, Amanda . Years later on Kilimanjaro, Amanda and I would meet another group of strangers. Those men became our team, and when our tent ripped loose in a violent storm, they ran toward us. Hebrews 13:2 reminds us not to forget to show hospitality to strangers. In a world of headphones, phones, and eyes constantly looking down, maybe it's time to look up again. A spouse was once a stranger. A best friend was once a stranger. A mentor was once a stranger. Every meaningful relationship has a first moment. You never know who God may place beside you. ️ Summit After the Storm Podcast with Bart Wilbanks #Relationships #Faith #LoveStory #Marriage #ChristianPodcast #ChristianLiving #GodsPlan #DivineAppointments #Hebrews13 #FaithJourney #LifeLessons #HumanConnection #Kilimanjaro #KeepClimbing #SummitAfterTheStorm
Episode 175: Don’t Miss the View | Stop Chasing What’s Next and Start Living the Day God Gave You
Sep 11, 20266 minS5
Sometimes we're so busy trying to capture the moment that we forget to actually live it. Our family traveled thousands of miles through Europe to stand in front of places we'd dreamed about seeing: The Colosseum. The Acropolis. The Eiffel Tower. The Vatican. The canals of Amsterdam. And what did we do? We pulled out our phones. Sometimes I caught myself looking at something incredible through a screen six inches from my face. Think about how strange that is. I traveled thousands of miles to see something with my own eyes, then watched it through my phone. But this episode isn't really about phones. It's about how easily we can live our entire lives focused on what's next . The next promotion. The next vacation. The next milestone. The next season. Kilimanjaro taught me the same lesson. For months, Amanda and I focused on one thing: the summit . But the summit picture lasted seconds. The journey took days. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Your children are this age today . Your spouse is sitting across from you today . The people you love are here today . So keep climbing. Keep pursuing the destination. But every once in a while... stop and look at the view. Because someday, the thing you're rushing through today may be the thing you wish you could come back to. ️ Episode 175 of Summit After the Storm And to my daily listeners: have a great weekend. Put the phone down for a little while, spend time with the people you love, and don't miss the view. #BePresent #Faith #ChristianPodcast #ChristianLiving #ChristianEncouragement #Jesus #Gratitude #Psalm118 #LiveInTheMoment #Family #LifeLessons #PersonalGrowth #Kilimanjaro #KeepClimbing #SummitAfterTheStorm Viral Hashtags
Episode 174: What Are You Training For? | The Work Nobody Sees Prepares You for the Moment Everybody Does
Sep 10, 20267 minS5
We live in a world where almost everything is getting faster. But some things still can't be rushed. Same-day delivery. Instant answers. AI. Thirty-second highlight reels. Technology keeps eliminating waiting. Life keeps requiring preparation. You can't Amazon Prime character. You can't download experience. You can't ask AI to do your push-ups. And you can't cram for a crisis. Standing inside the Colosseum in Rome reminded me that worthwhile things take time to build. Kilimanjaro taught me the same lesson. Everyone sees the summit picture of Amanda and me. They don't see the months of walking, training, testing gear and carrying weighted backpacks that came before it. The work nobody saw prepared us for the moment everybody sees. In 1 Corinthians 9:25, Paul writes, “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.” So if you're waiting for the next job, opportunity, breakthrough or open door, ask yourself: If God opened that door tomorrow, would I be ready to walk through it? Episode 174 of Summit After the Storm is about what happens before the opportunity arrives and why the ordinary days, quiet work and preparation nobody applauds may be building exactly what you'll need when your moment comes. You don't become ready when the moment arrives. The moment reveals how ready you've become. #Motivation #PersonalGrowth #Leadership #Faith #ChristianPodcast #ChristianLiving #TrustGod #Purpose #Preparation #SuccessMindset #Discipline #1Corinthians9 #Kilimanjaro #KeepClimbing #SummitAfterTheStorm
Episode 173: Recalculating | When God Changes the Route but Not the Destination
Sep 9, 20266 minS5
“Recalculating.” We've all heard that word from our GPS. There's an accident ahead. Road construction. A closed street. Suddenly the blue line changes and you're being sent down a road that makes absolutely no sense. But you follow it. Why? Because the GPS can see something ahead that you can't. Traveling through Europe, our family depended on GPS constantly as we navigated unfamiliar cities, train stations, apartments, restaurants and landmarks. We knew where we wanted to go, but we couldn't always see how we'd get there. Life can feel exactly the same way. A job changes. A relationship changes. A door closes. A plan falls apart. Suddenly, it feels like God is recalculating the route you thought your life was supposed to take. And you're asking: “God, this isn't where I was going. What are You doing?” Kilimanjaro taught me that the path to the summit isn't a straight line either. The terrain changes. The trail turns. Sometimes the summit disappears completely from view. But the destination is still there. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding...” God doesn't always give us the entire route, every turn, and an ETA. Sometimes He simply asks us to trust Him enough to take the next faithful step . In Episode 173 of Summit After the Storm , we're talking about what happens when life suddenly says “Recalculating” and why a changed route doesn't necessarily mean a failed journey. If your life looks nothing like the route you planned, this episode is for you. Maybe you're not lost. Maybe you're just being led down a road you couldn't see coming. #TrustGod #Faith #GodsPlan #ChristianPodcast #ChristianLiving #Jesus #FaithOverFear #Proverbs3 #ChristianEncouragement #Purpose #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #LifeLessons #KeepClimbing #SummitAfterTheStorm
