031: Grounding, Mediumship & Spiritual Practice with Mandy, The Grounded Medium: How to Stay Present, Connected & In Your Body
What does it actually mean to be grounded, and why is grounding so important for mediumship, intuition, spirituality, and your everyday life? In this episode of Spirit and the Medium, I'm joined by my friend Mandy, also known as The Grounded Medium, for a conversation about grounding, mediumship, spiritual awakening, intuition, energy, emotions, and what it really means to stay connected to yourself while working with Spirit. Mandy and I originally intended to record an interview, but – as often happens when two mediums get together – we ended up having a much deeper conversation about what it means to be human and spiritual at the same time. We talk about why so many spiritual people become focused on "ascending" and reaching higher vibrations, while forgetting the importance of coming back into the body and connecting with the Earth. We explore the difference between being spiritually open and becoming overwhelmed, how to recognize when you may be carrying energy or emotions that aren't yours, and why grounding isn't about escaping uncomfortable feelings – it can actually mean learning to stay present with them. Mandy shares her own journey into mediumship, including how Reiki helped her understand energetic flow and begin to discern what was hers and what belonged to someone else. We also talk about spiritual development, personal growth, spiritual bypassing, self-compassion, judgment, authenticity, and why you can't truly ground yourself while constantly avoiding the parts of yourself you don't want to feel. And then we get practical. Mandy shares simple grounding practices you can actually incorporate into your everyday life – including creating quiet time before consuming outside information, setting an intention for your day, sitting in stillness, getting outside, walking, spending time around trees, and choosing one spiritual practice to consistently practice rather than collecting endless techniques. We also talk about something I think so many of us need to hear: knowing something intellectually isn't the same as embodying it. Spiritual practice becomes meaningful when we actually live it. If you've been feeling scattered, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, overly influenced by other people's energy, or like you're spending so much time in your head that you've forgotten what it feels like to simply be here, this conversation is for you. In this episode, you'll hear about: ✨ Grounding and why it matters for mediums, psychics, and spiritually curious people ✨ How to stay connected to Spirit while remaining present in your body ✨ Grounding practices for everyday life ✨ How to recognize when you're absorbing other people's emotions or energy ✨ The connection between grounding, self-love, and self-compassion ✨ Spiritual awakening and learning to feel uncomfortable emotions ✨ Spiritual bypassing and the "love and light" trap ✨ Why stillness and quiet are essential spiritual practices ✨ Grounding through nature, walking, and time away from screens ✨ How to create more space between reacting and responding ✨ Why spiritual growth isn't about arriving at a destination – it's about continually becoming Mandy is one of the most grounded people I know, and I absolutely loved this conversation. I hope you get from it what I always get when I spend time with her: a little more permission to slow down, come back to yourself, and remember that you are both human and Spirit. And perhaps most importantly, to remember that grounding isn't about becoming less spiritual. It's about becoming more fully here.
