The Veins of the City Examining the Role of Infrastructure in Crime
Infrastructure is often taken for granted, yet it plays a crucial role in shaping the dynamics of crime in urban environments. In this discussion, we investigate how the design and maintenance of roads, bridges, and public transportation systems can either facilitate criminal activities or serve as deterrents. We will explore case studies where infrastructure failures have led to increased crime rates, as well as examples of urban planning initiatives that have successfully reduced crime through thoughtful design. By interviewing urban planners, law enforcement officials, and community activists, we aim to uncover the intricate relationship between the physical structure of a city and the criminal behaviors that emerge within it.
