**ASSEMBLY — a mix born from a movement** *Assembly*, the 2025 documentary by Rashaad Newsome and Johnny Symons, follows Newsome as he turns the Park Avenue Armory. \A former military armory, once a "bastion of white military power" , into a Black queer utopia. Video projections, holograms, sculptures, collages, music, dance, and African fractal patterns come together to challenge colonial power structures while honoring the complexity and resilience of Black experience. At its center is Being, an AI character with a rich emotional arc who evolves from a conceptual artwork into a central figure, overcoming skepticism as it teaches the urgency of decolonization. As a DJ, this is exactly the kind of story that pulls me in. Vogue, holograms, sculpture, AI, ancestry, resistance, joy. Assembly doesn't separate the spiritual from the futuristic, and neither do I when I'm behind the decks. Watching it, I felt something click: the same energy I chase in a set, that mix of roots and rebellion, of history carried forward into something new. This live mix is my response to that feeling. Recorded at the afterparty in Creative Arthouse Felix Meritis in Amsterdam, it's a set built the way Newsome builds his worlds, layered, unapologetic, and rooted in Black and queer creativity.
