The Scarcity Mindset High Earners Don't Talk About
Aug 27, 202650 min
Why high earners still feel behind—and how a clear plan and purposeful savings buckets can turn financial anxiety into confidence. Episode Summary A high income, growing investments, and a rising net worth should lead to financial confidence. So why do so many successful professionals still feel like they're falling behind? Why doesn't financial progress always feel like financial security? In this episode of Scripted Wealth: Money & Meaning for Pharmacists , Tim & Tim explore the scarcity mindset that can persist even when the numbers suggest you're doing well. They discuss how perfectionism, comparison, childhood money scripts, and the disconnect between long-term wealth and day-to-day cash flow can create financial anxiety. They also explain why defining "enough," building a clear financial plan, and giving your money a specific purpose through savings buckets can help you spend and save with greater confidence, while enjoying a rich life today and preparing for the future. What you'll learn in this episode: Why a high income and growing net worth don't always create financial confidence How perfectionism, comparison, and childhood money scripts can fuel a scarcity mindset Why being "asset rich" can still leave you feeling constrained by today's cash flow How defining what "enough" means can provide a more meaningful measure of progress How purpose-driven savings buckets can make it easier to spend on what matters without derailing your long-term goals Mentioned on the Show YFP Wealth Disclaimer The information in this episode is provided to you for your informational purposes only and is not intended to provide, and should not be relied on for, investment or any other advice. Are You Ready to Retire? The Question Money Can't Answer
Aug 13, 202650 min
Retirement is about more than having enough money. Learn how to plan for the purpose, relationships, health, and freedom that come after work. Episode Summary Retirement planning often centers around one big question: Do I have enough money? But reaching your retirement number is only part of the equation. An equally important, and often overlooked, question is: What are you retiring to? In this episode of Scripted Wealth: Money & Meaning for Pharmacists, Tim & Tim explore what it means to prepare for retirement beyond the numbers. They discuss why retirement should be viewed as a transition rather than a finish line, how work provides structure and identity that can be difficult to replace, and why intentionally designing your days, relationships, health, and sense of purpose matters long before your final day of work. They also explore how the traditional definition of retirement is changing and why financial independence may be more about flexibility and optionality than never working again. What you'll learn in this episode: Why being financially ready for retirement doesn't necessarily mean you're ready to retire How to think about what you're retiring to, not simply what you're retiring from Why creating an "ideal schedule" can help you envision the day-to-day reality of retirement How relationships, purpose, health, and identity influence a fulfilling retirement Why financial independence can create flexibility and optionality without requiring you to stop working altogether Mentioned on the Show Scripted Wealth Ep. 440: The Pharmacist Identity Trap: When Your Career Becomes Who You Are Scripted Wealth Ep. 442: Designing a Sabbatical Mindset Before Retirement YFP Wealth Disclaimer The information in this episode is provided to you for your informational purposes only and is not intended to provide, and should not be relied on for, investment or any other advice. What can a sabbatical teach you about retirement? Learn how creating more margin today can help you build a richer life before retirement. Episode Summary What if retirement isn't something you should wait decades to experience? In this episode of Scripted Wealth, Tim & Tim reflect on their experiences taking extended sabbaticals and explore what those experiences revealed about retirement, work, identity, relationships, and financial planning. Rather than viewing retirement as a finish line, they discuss how creating more margin, rest, and intentionality throughout life can lead to greater fulfillment today while also preparing for tomorrow. Along the way, they unpack the emotional side of stepping away from work, why many high achievers struggle to slow down, and practical ways anyone can begin adopting a "sabbatical mindset"—even without taking an entire month off. What you'll learn in this episode: Why retirement is about much more than reaching a financial number. How a sabbatical provides a valuable "test drive" for retirement. The surprising benefits of creating more margin, rest, and reflection before burnout happens. Practical ways to build a sabbatical mindset—even if taking a month off isn't realistic. Why some of the richest retirement experiences have little to do with money and everything to do with relationships and intentional living. If We Were Starting Over: What We'd Do Differently With Money
Jul 16, 202659 min
Tim and Tim share the financial mistakes, lessons, and mindset shifts that shaped their wealth journeys—and what they'd do differently today. Episode Summary Financial mistakes are part of every wealth-building journey. The key isn't avoiding them altogether. It's learning from them, adapting, and continuing to move forward. In this episode, Tim & Tim reflect on the financial mistakes, missteps, and lessons that shaped their own journeys. From buying too much house, carrying credit card debt, and delaying retirement savings to misunderstanding student loans and chasing the belief that income equals success, they share the decisions they would approach differently if given the chance to start over. Along the way, they discuss how money mindset, upbringing, financial habits, and life experiences influence the choices we make with money. They also explore why mistakes are often valuable teachers and how building a strong financial foundation creates the flexibility to take calculated risks and live a rich life on your own terms. What you'll learn in this episode: Why income alone doesn't guarantee financial success Common financial mistakes pharmacists make early in their careers How money scripts and childhood experiences shape financial behavior The importance of building a strong financial foundation before taking risks Why financial mistakes can become valuable lessons rather than lasting regrets Mentioned on the Show YFP Wealth Disclaimer The information in this episode is provided to you for your informational purposes only and is not intended to provide, and should not be relied on for, investment or any other advice. The Pharmacist Identity Trap: When Your Career Becomes Who You Are
Jul 2, 202658 min
For many pharmacists, work becomes part of who they are. Learn how identity, purpose, career transitions, and retirement are deeply connected. Episode Summary For many pharmacists, work becomes more than a job. After years of education, training, and professional growth, being a pharmacist can become deeply connected to how we see ourselves. But what happens when career goals are achieved, a transition opportunity emerges, or retirement begins to appear on the horizon? In this episode of Scripted Wealth, Tim & Tim explore the often-overlooked connection between identity and career. They discuss why pharmacists may be especially susceptible to tying their sense of purpose and self-worth to their profession, how the sunk cost of education and training can make career pivots feel difficult, and why retirement is about much more than replacing a paycheck. The conversation challenges listeners to think beyond their job title and consider how to build a life rich with purpose, relationships, community, and meaning both before and after retirement. What you'll learn in this episode: Why pharmacists are particularly vulnerable to tying their identity to their profession How the sunk cost of education, training, and student loans can influence career decisions Why retirement is often an emotional and identity transition, not just a financial one How a strong financial foundation creates optionality for career pivots and life changes Practical questions to help define who you are beyond your role as a pharmacist Mentioned on the Show YFP Wealth Disclaimer The information in this episode is provided to you for your informational purposes only and is not intended to provide, and should not be relied on for, investment or any other advice.
