Aztecs Face Big Challenges in New Conference | San Diego State Aztecs Basketball News
San Diego State’s men’s basketball team is firing up for a stacked 2026-27 non-conference slate, facing powerhouse matchups against USC, UCLA, and BYU—all within Southern California. After a solid 2022-23 campaign that got them to the Mountain West finals but missed the NCAA Tournament, they’re diving headfirst into Pac-12 play with a revamped roster featuring five returning players and fresh faces. Coach Brian Dutcher’s focus? Winning tough regional games and building on their signature defensive grit and Aztec passion. Three European recruits—David Torresani, Luka Skorić, and Luca Vincini—are practicing as if cleared, with optimism they’ll suit up this season. The schedule also includes the inaugural Bill Walton Classic, the Acrisure Series, and a return to the Players Era Tournament in Vegas, where they’ll battle Iowa State and possibly Maryland or Tennessee. Through all the change, Dutcher’s message is clear: the heart of the program—the relentless defense, the fight, and the pride—remains unchanged.
