When the System Is the Problem | Dr. James Ford & Parron ️Radical Roots ep 90 September 27, 2026 | 8:30 PM ET | Live from Union County, NCJustice Anita Earls was scheduled to join us tonight, but technical issues had other plans. So Parron and Dr. James Ford kept the conversation moving, and what started as a delay turned into a much bigger discussion:What happens when the problem is bigger than any one politician, election, or institution? Tonight’s Topics:⚖️ When the System Is the ProblemWhat do you do when people lose faith in the institutions themselves? Voting matters. Courts matter. Local offices matter. But electoral politics cannot be the whole strategy. ️ What Is Your Promise Worth to Me?One of the questions Parron planned to ask Justice Earls became a question for every elected official: what are your promises actually worth to the communities whose votes you want? Fascism Is Not New HereDr. Ford connects today’s political moment to Jim Crow, the Black Codes, segregation, and America’s own authoritarian history.️ Tech, Surveillance & PowerPalantir, AI, data centers, Big Tech, and the growing merger of corporate and state power all enter the conversation.✊ Culture War Is Still About PowerWhat gets dismissed as “culture war” is often really about who gets treated as fully human, whose rights are protected, and whose can be taken away. Sports, Palestine & Political SpeechThe NFL, Colin Kaepernick, Palestinian solidarity, and the double standards around “acceptable” political expression. North Carolina’s BallotDr. Ford also breaks down the three constitutional amendments North Carolina voters will see in November and why the language deserves a closer look.✊ The Question:If the system keeps producing the same outcomes, is the answer simply better people in charge?Or does the system itself have to change?
