Episode 13: Elite Athlete interview - Millie Wood, England rugby.
Ex England and Gloucester rugby player Millie Wood joins me on the couch for this episode of PTR podcast to talk about her rise up the ranks into the highest level of rugby and how she overcame her injuries. Millie gives a great insight behind how she worked her way through the 7's set up and really pushed for a spot on the 7's world series, garnering respect enough to be picked for England, traveling the world and playing the best in the game. During her time on the training pitches doing fitness, she talks about her overuse injuries developed by the high level of fitness volumes on harder pitches needed for speed as a winger. This is followed by a few upper limb/ hand issues incurred during more 7's after which Millie racked up many many caps for her childhood club Gloucester rugby, helping them build to what today, is a dominant force in the English game. One of her most memorable moments was then to come with the Barbarians rugby team who she was to play with against England of all teams! Despite a substantial career at the highest level, she has managed to remain mostly injury free and we finish up talking about her most recent hip issue which is impacting current lifting training which she does alongside commentating at Gloucester and England rugby games. I'm grateful Millie was able to take some time out to speak with me on this episode and I hope you enjoy watching and listening along with us! @milliewood14 #sportsphysio #sportsrehab #rugbyphysio #englandrugby #gloucesterrugby #rugby7s #barbariansrugby #sportsphysio #sportsphysiotherapy
