Episode #12
Strength in the Scars with Vincent Van den Broeck
A near-fatal scooter crash leaves Vincent Van den Broeck with multiple fractures, major brain trauma, and a 10 percent survival chance - but the real story is what he does next. If you need proof that resilience is a practice, not a personality trait, this conversation will stay with you long after it ends. Deb Snyder sits down with Brussels-based entrepreneur, restaurateur, and author Vincent Van den Broeck live from his restaurant for a raw look at recovery, ownership, and rebuilding a life after catastrophe. Vincent opens up about the night of the accident, the weeks in a coma, the brutal rehab that followed, and the moment he refused to let doctors, labels, or fear define what came next. You’ll hear Vincent and Deb unpack: Why “toxic positivity” became a surprising accusation during rehab How taking full ownership of your journey changes everything The difference between surviving and truly becoming Why gratitude for small things like walking home or opening a water bottle can be life-altering The role of family, friends, prayer, and community in his recovery How his book, Everything Feels Impossible Until It’s Done , turned private pain into a shared victory Vincent also shares the philosophy behind his “manual” for living, including the power of making every goodbye count, protecting time with the people you love, and choosing authenticity over autopilot. It’s a conversation about energy, purpose, second chances, and the quiet habits that make life feel more precious after almost losing it.Essential listening if you’re rebuilding, rethinking your priorities, or looking for a reminder that even the hardest chapter can become the one that saves you. Vincent Van den Broeck is a Brussels-based entrepreneur, restaurateur, and survivor of a near-fatal car accident that changed his life forever. On October 11th, 2024, he was struck whilst riding a scooter in a collision at 55 km/h in a 30 zone. The impact left him with multiple fractures and major brain trauma. Doctors gave little hope with most injuries of this severity having only a 10% survival rate. He spent weeks in a coma and three months in intensive rehabilitation, but recovery didn’t stop there — it became a daily mission. Against all odds, he not only regained his strength but came back stronger than before: working out 7 times a week, running a business, and building new creative projects. Today, Vincent shares his story as living proof that resilience, mindset, and community can make the impossible possible. Vincent is the author of: EVERYTHING FEELS IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL IT’S DONE: How the life you build becomes the one that saves you Author online: https://untilitsdone.eu https://www.instagram.com/vincentinthekitchen/ Learn more about Rare Medium with Deb Snyder at: http://www.debsnyder.com and http://www.heartglow.org
