Matvei Michkov Scores & Woll Solid Again, But Flyers CAN’T Solve Hurricanes; Start Season 0-1-2
The Philadelphia Flyers came in to their third game of the season looking to beat a Carolina Hurricanes team they haven’t beaten in regulation at home since a week before the 2020 season was stopped in March. Sebastian Aho scored 10 seconds into the game, and added another in the third, but in between Owen Tippett and Matvei Michkov became the first Philly forwards to light the lamp this season, while Joseph Woll carried over his strong play from Thursday into this matchup, as well, making 32 consecutive saves after allowing a goal on the first shot of the game. With a power play to end regulation and start OT, the Flyers had an opportunity to beat their White Whale, but a Tippett penalty a couple minutes into the overtime was all the opportunity Shanye Gostisbehere and the Canes needed to end the game. Bill & Steve break down the game, discussing the Flyers being outshot by a whole lot again, as well as David Jiricek’s debut, Tyson Foerster’s start to the season, and more.
