482. $1,000 Cost Per Case on ChatGPT Ads: How Rankings.io's Beta Tests Beat Google PPC
Sep 17, 202623 min
PI firms are paying thousands per signed case on traditional paid search. Rankings.io’s early ChatGPT Ads tests have already produced an auto case at roughly $1,000—showing the unique economics of this new channel. Jessica Ford is Director of Paid Ads at Rankings.io, where she leads a team of legal-specialized advertisers and oversees paid advertising strategy across channels. With more than nine years of experience in digital advertising, she specializes in lead generation and helping businesses turn paid media into measurable growth. Her team began testing ChatGPT Ads for PI firms during OpenAI's early legal pilot, months before the platform formally updated its policy to allow legal advertising on a case-by-case basis. In this episode, Jessica joins Chris Dreyer to share what those early tests reveal about ChatGPT Ads for personal injury firms. They examine targeting controls, compliance problems, educational landing pages that convert above 5%, and the enormous range they see in cost per signed case. Jessica also compares ChatGPT's contextual ad model with Google's AI Max—and explains why one currently has a much stronger case for your next experimental ad dollar. You'll learn: What early ChatGPT Ads cost-per-case data reveals for personal injury firms. The targeting and bidding controls available inside ChatGPT's emerging ad platform. Which legal landing page formats reach 5%+ lead conversion rates. What keeps PI ads from spending—and the compliance issues triggering disapprovals. 478. You Fought Hard to Win Your Client $10M. A Hidden Tax Trap Is About to Take $2M of It. | Rachel Sampsell, Eastern Point Trust Company
Sep 8, 202626 min
Winning your client $10 million doesn't necessarily mean you delivered $10 million in value. In certain taxable settlements, an overlooked tax issue can leave a plaintiff writing a seven-figure check to the IRS after the case closes—and by then, the opportunity to address it may disappear. Rachel Sampsell is Chief Trust Officer and Industry Educator at Eastern Point Trust Company, which has administered more than $25 billion in recoveries across more than 6,000 trusts. She has made educating plaintiff attorneys about the attorney fee double-tax issue a major focus of her work, speaking about settlement planning at events including MTMP and Trial Lawyers University. In this episode, Rachel joins Chris Dreyer to examine what happens between winning the case and getting the recovery safely into your client's hands. They discuss Qualified Settlement Funds, the tax implications of certain non-physical injury settlements, why timing changes the options available to a plaintiff, and how paralegals can become early issue spotters before the parties finalize settlement documents. You'll learn: When a Qualified Settlement Fund can help PI firms manage disbursements, liens, and post-settlement administration. Which taxable settlement components should prompt attorneys to bring in a tax or settlement planning expert. The critical timing difference between setting up a QSF and addressing the plaintiff attorney fee double-tax issue. How paralegals can flag settlement tax issues before the firm loses the opportunity to address them. Where settlement planning can preserve client value beyond the dollar amount negotiated in the case. Head over to Rankings.io to see for yourself how we can help take your business to the next level.
