232. Tick Season Is Changing. How to Stay Safe Outdoors with Dr. Richard Horowitz
Tick-borne illnesses are, unfortunately, something many of us who love spending time outdoors have a personal relationship with. If you haven’t had one yourself, you likely can think of someone you know who has had one. And I questioned putting out an episode on tick-borne illnesses in late Autumn, but then I remembered an article that I wrote a couple of years back about how tick season is not only expanding to new areas across the country, but in many places the season is much longer than it used to be, too. Dr. Horowitz is a board-certified internal medicine doctor and medical director of the Hudson Valley Healing Arts Center, an integrative medical center that combines both mainstream and integrative approaches in the treatment of Lyme disease and other tick-borne disorders. He has treated over 13,000 Lyme and tick-borne disease patients over the last 42 years, with patients coming from around the world to his clinic, and has advised HHS, the NY State Department of Health, as well as government agencies across the globe. His research and dedication to studying, understanding, and listening to patient concerns have helped lead many of his patients into long-term remission from Lyme disease.
