Join fairy tale enthusiasts Cassie, Daurie, Laura, and Matt as they discuss the world of film and literary adaptations! Each month (or so) they will choose a specific fairy tale, and each week they will discuss a different book, movie, or musical adaptation of that fairy tale, exploring the way authors and artists retell, change, twist, conserve, and diversify the same stories over and over. In loving memory, always, of Drew.

Episode #41
Episode 147: Disney's Live Action Little Mermaid
Aug 11, 20261h 26mS2
Cassie, Daurie, and special guest Maddie tackle Disney's live action remake of The Little Mermaid in our final episode of this Little Mermaid revisit. A minor miscommunication leads to slightly different approach for the episode -- can Daurie and Cassie convince Maddie, a lifelong lover of Disney's animated Little Mermaid, to watch the live action and give it a try? You'll also learn what this movie has to do with picture books, the 95 Pride and Prejudice, and Cassie's production of The Lightning Thief; which change from the animated movie causes the most heated debate; and perhaps most importantly, how many times Cassie accidentally calls Triton "Trident." The main discussion starts at the 7:50 mark. You can find Maddie on Substack: https://open.substack.com/pub/atthehearthwithmaddie Join our community! Cassie and Daurie take on the first Twisted Tale of the podcast with Part of Your World by Liz Braswell . We look at how the "what if" question impacts the narrative, discussing some weak points as it doesn't quite connect with its animated inspiration, but ultimately explore how this "what if" takes the Disney version closer to Andersen's original than it has ever been before. Cassie and Daurie discuss one of the more recent additions to the Little Mermaid retellings -- Sea Change by Susan Fletcher. We look at how the science fiction setting contributes to the elements of the story and the unexpected ways Fletcher stays true to Andersen. Join our community! Cassie and Daurie kick off our second Little Mermaid era with a short and sweet episode for a short and sweet story -- "The Little Android," found in Stars Above, Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles anthology of short stories. "Smart" is the word of the episode, as it always is with a Marissa title. We discuss how she fits the Little Mermaid into her larger worldbuilding, the details she keeps that so many retellers of this story leave out, and the best representation of the Sea Witch BAR NONE. Episode 143: Beauty and the Beast wrap up and intro to The Little Mermaid
Jun 16, 202647 minS2
Cassie and Matt wrap up their final thoughts on Beauty and the Beast with a discussion about how more modern retellings are changing the focus and the story's definition of Happily Ever After for the better. Then Cassie and Daurie turn their attention to a revisit of Little Mermaid. For a more in depth discussion of this story, go back to episode 25 about halfway through! Every question we get asked before someone starts their trial.
If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
