The God Who Sees: What Hagar Teaches Us About Ministry Pain
God sees you, even when no one else seems to. In this teaching from Genesis 16, we examine Hagar, the first person recorded in Scripture to give God a name. Hagar was a servant caught in a painful situation she did not create. When she ran into the wilderness, the angel of the Lord met her there. She responded by calling Him “El Roi,” the God who sees. In this episode, Kenneth McQuiller explores what Hagar’s story teaches us about God’s concern for vulnerable people, how encounters with God can change us even when our circumstances remain difficult, and why faithful ministry and nonprofit leadership often require us to live with discomfort. You’ll learn: Why God pays attention to overlooked and undervalued people How God can change us without immediately changing our circumstances Why faithful leadership requires obedience, not constant comfort What Hagar’s encounter reveals about God’s character Scripture: Genesis 16, particularly verses 7–13 If this message encouraged you, share it with someone walking through a difficult season and subscribe for more conversations about faith, nonprofit ministry, and purpose-driven leadership. #Hagar #Genesis16 #BibleTeaching #ChristianLeadership #FaithBasedNonprofit
