Bonus Episode: I Don’t Want to Be a Martyr for My Family
There’s a difference between sacrificing for your family and completely losing yourself for them. As women, especially as mothers, we can sometimes feel like being a good wife, mother, or homemaker means constantly putting ourselves last. We’re expected to give, serve, nurture, manage, sacrifice, and somehow keep going without ever admitting that we’re tired or that we need something too. But I don’t want to be a martyr for my family. I want to love my family. I want to show up for them. I want to make sacrifices when they’re necessary. But I also want to remember that I’m a person outside of what I do for everyone else. In this episode, I’m talking about the difference between healthy sacrifice and self-abandonment, why constantly running yourself into the ground isn’t the same thing as loving your family, and why taking care of yourself doesn’t make you selfish. Because our families need us—but they don’t need us completely depleted, resentful, or forgotten. Join our community: https://jareewilliams.substack.com
