Hear It and Live It | Psalm 119:171
What should happen after you read and understand God’s Word? As Psalm 119 comes to a close, the psalmist reminds us that Scripture is meant to produce action in our lives. Throughout this chapter, we’ve seen God’s Word provide wisdom, direction, hope, comfort, and truth—but simply hearing those truths isn’t enough. We should read Scripture to learn and understand, but also for personal transformation and practical application. God’s Word is not merely good information, a source of comfort, or a religious practice we complete because we’re supposed to. It is God speaking to us, and our responsibility is to take what He has taught us and live accordingly. As you read, study, and memorize Scripture, continually ask yourself: How should what I’m learning change the way I live?
