Balancing Creativity & Commerciality in the Music Industry
Oct 8, 202543 minS7
In this episode of the Made It In Music Podcast, we’re joined by lifelong friends turned industry pros — Jonathan Gamble , hit songwriter (Seph Schlueter, Ben Fuller, CAIN), and Stephen Floyd , Manager of A&R at Centricity Music . From growing up together and chasing early creative dreams, to carving out unique roles on opposite sides of the industry, Jonathan and Stephen share a rare dual perspective on what it takes to thrive in today’s music business. They dive deep into what “commercial” music really means, how to balance creativity with marketability, and what labels are actually looking for in songs and artists. Whether you’re a songwriter trying to make your art more sync-friendly, or an artist navigating the fine line between authenticity and strategy, this episode is packed with real-world insight and encouragement. You’ll hear stories from the writing room, wisdom from the label side, and honest advice on staying grounded when the industry feels like a rollercoaster. Hosted on Acast. In this follow-up episode with Grammy-winning songwriter Ben Stennis (Cody Johnson’s “’Til You Can’t,” plus cuts with Morgan Wallen, Tim McGraw, Bailey Zimmerman, and more), we open the floor to questions straight from our Song Chasers community. Ben dives deeper into the topics that matter most to working songwriters—navigating the highs and lows of co-writes, staying grounded in an industry built on comparison, and what it really looks like to align your creative process with faith and purpose. From practical career advice to the heart behind the music, this Q&A offers an unfiltered look at what it takes to build longevity as a songwriter without losing sight of what matters most. Ben Stennis is a Grammy-winning, multi-week No.1 songwriter behind Cody Johnson’s “’Til You Can’t,” plus cuts with Morgan Wallen, Tim McGraw, Bailey Zimmerman, High Valley, and Jason Aldean. He shares his unlikely path from stuntman dreams to Nashville, the decade-long wait before his first deal, and how faith and biblical wisdom guide everything from co-writes to career decisions. We talk preparation for high-pressure bus runs, the power of writing with your crew (“iron sharpens iron”), guarding your name (Proverbs 22:1), resisting comparison in the scroll era, setting lyrical boundaries, giving generously, and keeping the focus on purpose over hype. If you’re a songwriter, artist, or producer who wants sustainable success without losing your soul, this conversation will light a fire. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
