2002: Go Crazy, Folks! Ozzie Smith Remembers the Legendary Jack Buck

  Sep 17, 20266 min

In the summer of 2002, the St. Louis community and the broader sports world mourned the loss of the legendary Cardinals broadcaster Jack Buck, who passed away following a lengthy hospitalization. In this deeply nostalgic and touching archived broadcast from KMOX radio, Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith joins the morning show to reflect on the life, legacy, and enduring warmth of the man who defined summer nights for generations of baseball fans. From sharing a heartfelt laugh about their close friendship to discussing the profound humility and approachability that made Buck an icon, "The Wizard" pulls back the curtain on his special bond with "The Voice." This beautiful audio time capsule naturally highlights one of the most iconic moments in baseball broadcasting history—Buck’s unforgettable "Go crazy, folks! Go crazy!" call following Ozzie's walk-off home run during Game 5 of the 1985 NLCS. As Ozzie fondly recounts, the absolute perfection of that call lay in Jack Buck's authentic ability to capture the raw magic of a moment, not by scripting it, but by living it alongside the fans. 2014: Cloudy with a Chance of Shade (Andy Cohen on KMOX)

  Sep 10, 20262 min

Welcome back to the archives! In this episode, we journey to the mid-2010s to revisit a hilariously unscripted moment on the legendary St. Louis airwaves. Long before he was solely running the Bravo clubhouse, hometown hero and pop-culture titan Andy Cohen dropped by KMOX—the iconic "Voice of St. Louis"—to step into a highly unusual role: weekend meteorologist. Tune in as we break down this delightful slice of broadcast history. We analyze Cohen’s signature delivery (a high of 58? "Sounds gorge!"), his behind-the-scenes banter about network anchor dynamics, and his candid reflections on mending fences with former The Morning Show colleague Harry Smith. We also unpack the historical and cultural context of this broadcast, including: The Hometown Connection: Cohen’s St. Louis roots and his deep, nostalgic appreciation for KMOX's legendary broadcasting history. The Book Tour Era: How this guest appearance perfectly captures the promotional whirlwind surrounding the release of his second book. The Live Radio Irony: The wildly awkward—and completely live—sponsor read where an openly gay media mogul's weather segment is inadvertently brought to you by Chick-fil-A, prompting a very real reaction from the booth. Live radio remains the ultimate frontier for spontaneous gold, and this clip proves exactly why. Grab your umbrella and get ready for a laugh-out-loud look at what happens when reality TV royalty meets local weather forecasting!
