IFC – energy investments in emerging Europe
Fuphan Chou – European regional industry manager for infrastructure, energy and ICT at the International Finance Corporation – joins the Infra Dig podcast to discuss the IFC’s role in driving to investments into energy across Central and Eastern Europe. Green Street News Infrastructure (formerly IJGlobal) editorial director Angus Leslie Melville talks to Fuphan about the IFC’s involvement in delivering "electrons and wires” which she describes as the organisation’s “compass direction". Fuphan tackles everything from the shift away from subsidised feed-in tariff regimes toward market-driven renewable commercialisation, through to the role of battery storage, grid investment, and cross-border interconnection. Conversation flows on to the IFC's active investment programme in wartime Ukraine which ranges from risk-sharing facilities with local banks, large-scale wind financing, and a pipeline approaching 715MW of new capacity.
