Possession Fallacy | July 20, 2026 | Wisdom Dialogues @ Kehena Beach
Send us Fan Mail The scariest kind of “possession” is the one that feels true. A spirit in your room, a craving you can’t stop, a partner who seems to control your mood, a memory that still runs your life. We start by challenging the assumption underneath all of it: the idea that anything outside your mind can own you, enter you, or determine your inner state. Using A Course in Miracles language, we unpack the possession fallacy and land on a simpler definition that changes everything. Possession is identification. What you accept as yourself becomes your experience, even when it is not the truth of you. From there, we bring the same lens to special relationships and the push pull of intimacy. If you fear losing freedom in love, or you try to possess attention, affection, loyalty, or safety, you will recognize the ego’s version of “having” and “being had.” We slow down the moment hatred appears in relationship conflict and show how projection works in real time: self hate gets pushed outward, then the story becomes “I hate him” or “I’m trapped,” and guilt starts to run the whole scene. The correction is not willpower or spiritual performance. It is the willingness to see a thought as a thought, withdraw identification, and let gratitude return as a natural extension of love. We also talk about attraction, sexuality, celibacy, and the pressure to make relationship outcomes prove your worth. Wanting what you want is not the problem. Assigning it the power to complete you is. Along the way we question the habit of chasing healing through the past, and we explore how trauma patterns can be recognized and undone now without turning your life into an endless excavation project. If you’ve ever wondered whether you “quit the lesson,” whether honesty is an attack, or whether you are running out of time, this one offers a steadier way to see.
