Ghost Tours, Consciousness and Reptiles with Tim Nealon of Ghost City Tours

On this 28th Paranormal Conversation, we are joined by entrepreneur, founder and CEO of Ghost City Tours and the host of the Ghost City Podcast, Tim Nealon. Tim has a passion and respect for history and a fascination with the paranormal and he has used this to realize his vision of a tour company with integrity and authenticity that hosts hundreds of thousands of guests every year in multiple cities across America. We discussed a variety of things including: Tim's haunted house where he has experienced frequent EVPs, disembodied voices, old-fashioned piano music, recurring shadow figures and a physical encounter with a candle. His property was part of a former plantation and lies along a route associated with Andrew Jackson's movement during the War of 1812 and he has found historical artifacts. We talk about ghost tourism and his company Ghost City Tours and the importance of historical research, accurate storytelling, and respect for the people and communities represented on its tours. It was important for us to differentiate his national company from another national company that seems to be ruining the industry and has been facing litigation. Discussing what a ghost is takes a down a fascinating road with Tim's speculative theory that consciousness is a universal field received by the brain and that consciousness persists after death, possibly leading to some paranormal encounters. We discuss Jungian synchronicity, simulation theories, and the possibility that investigators' attention or intent contributes to hauntings. For several years, Tim managed Old South Pittsburg Hospital and he shares some of the experiences people have had with EVPs, disembodied voices, and shadow figures. He also identified one area as having a more negative atmosphere, without labeling it demonic. Tim also shares his most intense experience, which happened at the hospital as well. It's pretty crazy! Kelly had a similar experience at the Exchange Hotel in Virginia with gunpowder smells, a copper taste, and severe tinnitus and Tim proposed that the brain may interpret unusual signals as specific sensory experiences, while acknowledging that the underlying process is not understood.
