Episode 58 - Living Mythos: The Stories We Live & the Stories We Weave
What if the stories we tell aren't simply stories? What if they are operating templates—myths we step into, consciously or unconsciously, that shape the roles we play, the struggles we expect, the meaning we give our experiences, and even the endings we imagine are possible? Cinderella waiting to be chosen. Ariel giving up her voice to belong in another world. Frodo carrying the burden because it is his to carry. Neo awakening to the realization that reality is not quite what he thought it was. We are all living myths. In this episode, I explore what happens when we begin to recognize the stories we are inhabiting—and become aware of ourselves not only as the character inside the story, but as the one participating in its creation. Do we create myth, or do we remember it? What happens when we consciously choose a new template for motherhood, relationships, work, creation, or the way we move through the world? And what are we agreeing to experience when we choose a particular story? I also share a myth that has been unfolding in my own awareness over the last year: the story of the Architect and the Beloved. It is a creation story. A love story. A story of structure and life, masculine and feminine, separation and remembrance, the garden and the structures we build within it—and the reunion that becomes possible when we recognize that neither the Architect nor the Beloved exists only outside of us. You don't have to believe this story. I invite you simply to enter it with me for a little while. See what you recognize. See what it illuminates. And perhaps ask yourself: What myth am I living? What myth am I weaving? And what kind of world is my way of living helping bring into form? Thank you for exploring the living mythos with me.
